Did I buy incompatible parts??

I bought these two items

Both are atx, but on the atx psu the power for the mb is only 10 prongs long, while the motherboard is needing a 12 pronger, plus the 12v power for the mb up near the cpu doesn't fit at all, looking at it I can see the connector on the psu is backwards from what I need. Both these are atx though so I do not understand what exactly I ordered wrong or what I should have gotten instead.

Could really use some help, got all this for my brother who is getting out of ait this coming week, so I was hoping to surprise him.

I might have figured it out, but not sure. On the big motherboard power, I can make it work, and then I can use the 4 pronger to fill in the left open spaces, maybe that's the way this is designed? First intel stuff I have messed with but maybe this is something they do now?

Alright, I figured it out, just needed to step away for a minute. The motherboard power and what I thought was the 12v are the same, they break away from each other incase you do not need it, and to confuse the hell out of me.

The 12v I needed was black and yellow

The main ATX connector is designed as a 20+4 pin unit, so the 4 pin connector that's attached to the 20 pin ATX plug is the extra 4 pin connector you're looking for on your main ATX connection. The two parts fit together if you just look at the mating ends of both the 20 pin and its complementary 4 pin connector.

Then there is a 4 pin +12V ATX connector that plugs into the 4 pin ATX connector on the upper portion of your motherboard next to the I/O rear panel. This plug won't fit into the main 24 pin connector unless you force it in there.....and break it into it, basically.

pssst.....the motherboad and power supply are, indeed, completely compatible with one another...no worries.
