Question Did Intel mess up on marketing names?

I just bought a Dell 3120 with Pentium Silver N6000 for a very small portable laptop with Windows as I didn't want Chromebook or Android tablet. Why did Intel split the Pentium in Silver (low power J and N chips) and Gold (Gxxxx desktop and U mobile chips) but they didn't do it with Celeron? I mean they are still selling N and J lower power Celeron chips and Gxxxx big core desktop chips.

On would think obfuscating capability through irritating model names is done on purpose there. Maybe somebody can explain why from a marketing pov this would be a good idea? 🤷

Its them inversing on the problems the old more straight forward naming allowed. Specially as Bulldozer came out a "speed" name would allow AMD to use their clock speeds to drive the uninformed. So they made sure they had the fastest stuff when reviews went out and gave their CPU's more organized names. I do think as they get lower in spec they obfuscate features by making the names more random so you only have Celeron and Pentium to go off of. The mixing of Atom and Core based in the Celeron line has always bothered me.

Both red and blue teams have royally messed up their naming conventions. I've stopped trying to make sense of it.

AMD released this in 2017 and immediate broke it the same generation.
