Digital Camera's broken

Anyways, today I had standardized testing (CA High School Exit Exam) and I finished at about 8:45AM. Classes didn't start until 10AM, so a couple of friends and I decided to walk down to Starbucks and get something to drink. I put my (well, actually my family's) digital camera in a case and put it in my backpack and went to Starbucks. On the way back, I was walking down the sidewalk when a girl from my class snuck up behind me and kicked my backpack. Anyways, I got back to school and checked my camera in first period and the screen was cracked and tehre was a dent in the lower left hand corner. I just talked to this girl about 10 minutes ago and asked if she would help me pay for a repair or replacement (MSRP is $300). But she says she did nothing . . . is she somewhat responsible?

Lunch period is ending, that's why iI'm typin g super fast. I'll check this when I get home from school.

UPDATE: I talked to her today and she said that she will pay $200. The cheapest I can find the camera is about $215, so it's good enough for me

I guess the questions which beg to be asked are:

1. Why were you carrying your digital camera to school with you?
2. Why was it in your backpack?
3. Why did you combine 1. and 2.?

It just seems like a bad idea, remembering my days of high school.

1. I have an AP Biology plant project and I wanted to take pictures of the plants at school (and in the neighborhood around, since a few garden have some very nice plants)

2. I didn't have room in my pocket

3. You should see some of the things that people carry in their backpacks at school. I remember one guy who had :

1. Laptop (a really nice one, Centrino, 15" WS, etc)
2. PDA
3. iPod
4. Digital Camera

I just think that other people should respect other people's property

And even if it was just books in there, I was carrying a lot of books since my locker was full . . .

I am POSITIVE it's her fault

There was about a 10 minute window between when she kicked it and when I checked it in first period (it was someone's birthday, and they wanted a pic with the class because my 1st period English class is teh best!)

I bought it in July off of NewEgg for about $335, it's down to $300 now

The thing is, I know that she has a lot of money because around Chinese New Year time, she always brags about getting a lot of money, her parents drive nice cars (Lexus LS and MB S-Class) and someone at school told me she lives in a pretty decent sized house (around 2800 sq ft which in my city is about $1.6Million)

I know she has the $$, I need help proving that she's at fault. And the 2 guys who were with me at the time aren't helping me out . . .

One option is to talk with her parents if you really want to, doesn't look too good on you though. Take this as a lesson and in the future if you need to bring it, drop it off with the teacher before school or something.

Do you go to a private school? I don't know of any public school that would let us go somewhere during the day like that

No, I go to a public school. Basically the plan for today was for Freshmen to do state-mandated physical fitness testing and for Sophomores to take the High School Exit Exam (i'm part of the latter)

Classes didn't start until 10AM, and since a few of us finished at 8:45 . . . we decided to go to Starbucks. The vice principal even saw us leave campus, he didn't care.

Offer to buy her coffee at starbucks, put day rape pill in her coffee before you give it to her. Once she's out, tie her the F up, dump her in trunk of car, drive to pier and talk to south asian smuggler, sell her ass, take profit, buy new digicam.

yes, she should pay for some IF NOT ALL of it. She kicked it and broke it. Although you probably can't "prove" it so I don't think you have a way to force her to pay for it. But if it's that important you should talk to your parents to talk to her parents. stupid hoochie.

I think that's the only solution, now, whether it should be done or not I think he should talk with his parents about it

i didnt use it during the standardized test (it was in my bag at the time, and the bag was at the front of the room)

i remember that it was working after the test because one of my friends tried to do a flip on the way to starbucks and i used the camera

the exam was from 8-10, and school was from 10-3.

i had to use the camera for a school project
