I've just built a new machine and have installed Windows ME. I'd like to install my HP CD-RW but I'm worried about the CD burning software and possible disruption of the so far very stable situation. Are most drivers compatible between 98se and millennium? or should I search for ME specific drivers etc. Thanks

Well, since you're using ME, you have the rollback feature available (if you haven't disabled it) so if it does mess things up, you should be able to revert to your original setup fairly easily.

Please Please Please get a copy of Nero. I thought Easy CD Creator 4.0 Deluxe was great, until I got my hands on Nero. Absolutely incredible. And you're not really installing drivers for your drive, just software.

If you are considering installing Nero with or without Acraptec, I would recommend reading the help available on Nero's site. I believe they have a helpfile download, HelpToolEn.EXE.

Personally, Nero and CloneCD are the only burner programs I use.

I use Adaptec to backup my data & some simple copying, but If you are into music & MP3's then Nero is the better choice ... oh, Nero will not like Adaptec on the same computer ...

Do you Adaptec users get that annoying Adaptec screen pop up whenever you boot up your system? I hate it but don't know how to get rid of it.

All you have to do is go into system configuration utility, and under the startup tab disable it. If you are running direct CD I think it has a properties selection that disables that splash screen as well
