directx 8 sdk -- problems with games?

ever since i installed directx, i have had problems with divx playback and games (gta3 (freezes on load game), hitman2 (randomly quits), no one lives forever 2(i can not hear voice))

could these problems be caused by directx sdk?
is there anything i can change to fix the problem?

I've got the SDK installed, and I haven't had any problems with games.

One thing you need to watch for, though, is when you install, it asks if you want to install the debug versions of the DirectX dlls... although these should run fine, they will definately make things slower. (Perhaps cause other problems? Dunno, just the only thing I could think of related to the SDK)

If you DID install these (dxdiag should help you find out if you did), try re-installing the regular DirectX and your video card drivers, and see if that solves the problem. Did you have any problems before you installed the SDK?
