DirecWay Internet service

One of my clients has DirecWay Satellite Internet service. I recently reformatted his computer to try and speed it up and fix an internet problem. The internet problem was that the LAN connection was always saying it was disconnected. The reformat fixed this problem and he was able to go on the internet for about 3 months. Then it happened again. When he is connected with the DirecWay the little LAN icon in the system tray says that a cable is disconnected. The only thing is there are no cables disconnected and the DirecWay is running perfect. I brought it down to my Roadrunner service and it worked perfectly on the internet. Do you have to set a specific IP address and specific DNS server when using Satellite? I know for Roadrunner you can just obtain these automatically. Could this be the problem? Any help would be awesome. Thank you in advance.

i would assume if its worked in the past the way it was u jes keep it the way it was.. now the disconnecting cable thing, u could have a bad Nic thats intermittant, you could have a intermittant Ethernet Cable, or a bad Sat Modem... first thing i would check the cable make sure it didnt get pinched somewhere and or one of the connecting ends isnt fubard. replace the cable see if it works, if not then try and put another NIC in the system and see if the internet works. if so bad nic. if not then i would be lookin at that satellite modem box...

somewhere its not getting connectivity with the icon saying its disconnected that give me the hint that its usually 1 of those 3
