Disabling fastwrite on Intel 865GBF

Would anyone happen to know how to disable AGP fastwriting on the Intel 865GBF motherboard? Sandra soft says it is currently enabled and I believe it may be giving me problems. (Applications that run hardware H&L are locking up after less than five minutes of running.) I looked thru the bios but could find nothing.

It has to be in the BIOS.

If unsure of where (I can be too) just open everything in the BIOS until you run accross it. It should be under video somewhere. My Award BIOS has Advanced Chipset Features, and I think I found it there. Also palette snooping, caching video and BIOS can also cause this sort of problem. Disable them while you're there.

I don't have the same board, but not all BIOS's have the option to enable / disable the feature. I have Fast Writes disabled through the ATI Control Panel for my 9700 Pro.

The only things in bios under video are the aperature size and option to tell it which bus it's on. I checked in advanced chipset features as well. There's really not much of anything there besides SDRAM frequency and latency settings. (Blasted intel bios.) I'm running a Ti4200, and haven't been able to find a toggle in the manufacturer's utility or the NVidia pannel in display.

Then make absolutely sure that all software is updated to the latest version, including Intel motherboard drivers and their BIOS.

And they're right, it could be a software (OS, or whatever) switch.

Are you sure you are not confusing it with 'Enable Write Combining'?
( System \ Advanced \ Performance \ Settings \ Advanced )

There is NO setting in the BIOS to disable fastwrites. Intel lets the OS
handle it. (the board is more geared toward STABILITY then performance)

I'm going off what Sandra is calling fast writing. Although ATI cards can disable it from their control panel, is this not a feature of NVidia cards?

I've been using nVidia cards for years, and I've never seen the option to disable fastwrite through nVidia's software. However, it is a feature in the BIOS of both of my machines (see sig for mobos). Sounds like your board just won't let you disable it. Maybe ATI is good for something after all.
