I'm going to order a set of Z560's tomorrow and I was wondering if it would be worth it to ditch my Audigy for the TBSC. I mainly listen to high bit rate MP3's, and do a little gaming. I have a problem with mp3's skipping every now and then, I don't know if it's because of the Audigy on a VIA chipset.

santa cruz and audigy are both excellent cards....if you already have the audigy then it's not very wise to ditch it. from my experience, the cruz is better for music while the audigy is better for gaming. but the difference is very small, keep the card you already got. if you can do a fair trade to someone though, i'd go for it. check the for sale/trade forums.

stay witht the audigy, the skipping is most likely your cpu, audigy mp3+ is the fit for you.

that audigy mp3+ / audigy gamer stuff is all marketing. it's the EXACT same card as the OEM version but with different software. and it's not worth the price difference.

I thought the same but went as far to reinstall Win Xp and then install the VIA 4-in1 drivers the Winamp and still get skipping. I have a XP-1700 Overclocked to 1606Mhz and 512 MB of DDR, I also watch the taskmanager and saw no CPU spikes when it skipped

At first it was in slot 4 sharing an IRQ with my network card. I then moved it to slot 3 not sharing an IRQ and I still get the skipping.

It's not the audigy, it's winamp. I had the same problem. Check your output plug-in under preferences.
The skipping occurs if you are using "Crossfading DirectSound output v1.37." Change it to "Winamp2 waveOut plugin v1.03" and that should stop the skipping.
