I guess you'd fit into the group as well?

No ,,, I dont ,,, because I'm not 'speculating' on this matter.
(I know better,,, that's why I attempted to guide you 'speculators' in the right direction)

Both my posts are factual.

speculate

My posts aren't factual? Prove it.

The fact that you can't find any sources that prove your "facts" shows that it's not factual.
Go ahead and prove that your posts ARE factual...

Grow up.
That response reminds me of a 'kids answer'.
You have given no proof to your statements.
And, it's not our 'job' (of us members) to prove your statements false.

Also, no one here wants to take the time to prove your statements false.
That doesnt make your statements true.

(sorry,,, math logic used may be too difficult for some to understand)

The dialoge you post here is without merit.
(keep your verbal excrement to yourself)

LCDs Pros

-No eye strain (You're looking at static screen... image)
-Portable (Thin, Light, Small)
-Shaper Picture (On the laptops atleast)

LCDs Cons

-Expensive (Compared to CRTs)
-Poor Color reproduction (Reds for example)
-Poor viewing angels (Thats improving however)
-Ghosting effect (Thats much improved)
-1 Resolution (Other resolutions look somewhat blurred, however some LCDs have fill to aspect ratio opitions)
-Fragile Screen (Mylar Screen, even though Mylar is rather strong for what it is)

CRTs Pros
-Great Color Reproduction
-Affordable
-No Ghosting

CRTs Cons

-Eyestrain
-Bulky
-High Power Use

Just shows how little logic you have. You are naturally wrong until you have proven yourself.
Now go get some proof before you come here with all these claims with no proof. Learn how to argue and not just spew crap.

Can A Computer Screen Damage My Eye?

Twenty years ago, few offices workers used computers, let alone had computers. However
with the dramatic increase in home and office computer use, complaints of eye fatigue and
discomfort are commonplace. Many people assume increased computer use is the source
of these complaints. But extensive testing in government and private laboratories has not
produced scientific evidence that computer monitors will harm your eyes
. Research has
established that computer monitors emit little or no hazardous radiation, such as x-ray, or
non-ionizing radiation, such as ultraviolet rays.

While computers have no known harmful effects on eyesight, computer users do often
complain of eye related symptoms such as eyestrain, headaches, fatigue, dry eyes, and
difficulty focusing, these symptoms (Computer Vision Syndrome - CVS) however are
caused not by the computer screen itself but rather by the conditions surrounding the
computer screen, such as poor lighting or improper placement of computer equipment
and computer furniture. In some instances, a pre-existing eye problem may be the cause.

EYES AND VISION

There are a number of symptoms that may be experienced by computer operators. These symptoms include: visual fatigue, blurred or double vision, burning and tearing eyes, headaches and frequent changes in eyeglass prescription. There is no scientific evidence that computer work causes permanent eye damage, but the temporary discomfort that may occur can reduce productivity, cause lost work time and reduce job satisfaction. Eye complaints are usually the result of glare (direct, specular or diffuse) or visual fatigue.

Your eyes subconciously are constantly in and out of focus when you look at a CRT monitor, because the image isnt constantly on the monitor.

Why would your eyes go in and out of focus? The phosphorus coating on the inside of the monitor is in a vertical plane (slight curviture in non-flat displays). It doesn't matter whether or not the image is continually being refreshed because your focal depth remains constant.

when i went for my last eye checkup, my eye doctor said that monitors do not damage ur eyesight. He said the thing that causes the most confort for people is that when they stare at the monitor, people forget to blink. Just taking a break to look around your room or forceing yourself to blink can decrease eyestrain.

ive recently moved to a LCD, an iiyama prolite E431S an there is jus no comparison, i needed the space saving of an LCD (reason for buying) an i could of bought a nice high quality CRT, since i got the lcd, i some how feel more relaxed, its easier on my eyes even tho its much much brighter than my crt, in fact when i sit at my crt now it looks horrid, even at 85hz i can see the flickering as it refreshes, it looks extremely dull and the curvature of the screen has never been so apparent, also my face doesnt feel likes it gettin burned any more, after a few hours infront of the CRT, my face feels hot n dry but not anymore.

this lcd has pretty much done it for me its easy on the eyes, and face, not gettin bad head or anything

and also my eyesight was gettin worse while using a CRT...ive gone from perfect sight to short sighted!!!

You sure you were sitting in front your monitor and not your microwave?

I run mine at 120Hz.

For 1 reason. With Vsync on, my framerates will be either 60 - optimal, 40 - decent, 30 - minimal. These nice numbers.

The only problem is that I can't go at any resolution higher than 1024x768. Which isn't too bad anyway because it's still considered High Definition and My graphics card wouldn't be able to play any new games at a higher resolution anyway. I have to play FarCry with Vysnc, 4xAF and everything at Medium except for Very High on water. Imagine at a higher resolution, it would be choppy.

Another great way to avoid eye strain is to use a dark background on your desktop. Staring at a desktop with a light or white background is comparable to staring at a low watt light bulb. Set your desktop to black and give it a shot. You'll notice your eyes feel far less strained after hours of working on your PC.
