Do you allow pop ups?

Given that this is a computer enthusiasts site it is interesting that Dailytech has pop up adverts. I've never seen them but my browser certainly lets me know they are there.

In general "No." But there are certain sites that are excepted, such as this forum. The message reply form is a pop-up.

And, with Pop-Ups generally off, you can always allow them by using the CTRL key with the selector button.

Exactly, this is the only site that I allow pop-ups from. For everything else, I have them set to be blocked but for the browser to inform me when they're being blocked, just in case I'm at another site where I would actually want a pop-up.

Actually, I would say it is not. A pop-up is script driven, whereas a window that is created in direct response to a user input (i.e. click) is not considered a pop-up. In IE, for example, if you add script to a page that creates a window when the page is loaded and the javascript is run, IE will block that as a pop-up. If you create script that contains an event handler for a button, and that event handler creates a window, IE will not block it as a pop-up.

I allow them (and all other forms of advertisement) for sites that I visit regularly.

I can only think you either like adverts or want the site to get that little bit extra revenue from the clicks that you make.

Only sites like pogo.com. Where sometimes the blocker blocks Java applets.
