<< 29, Canadian (near Toronto), never seen a gun that wasn't in the holster of a police officer, and like it that way.
Most statistics from both the pro and anti-gun lobbies don't tend to sway me, especially comparisons of crime rates from different cities or even countries. Those stats are junk - there's no accounting for other factors.
Now, there are those who would suggest that revoking the right to bear arms will inevitably lead to a government that abuses its power. Then there are others who would suggest that this has already happened.
But really, what a pathetic argument. If you want to defend freedom, make informed votes on election day. The solution your right to bear arms would allow is too little, too late.
When I consider the scenarios where a gun would be desirable, they fall into two categories: plausible and implausible. Of the plausible kind, only my possesions are at stake. Last I knew, nobody wanted to kill me. And if it's a decision between losing a posession or introducing a gun (or a second gun) into the situation, I'll let the guy take the wallet, thank you.

The freedom we defend is not only that of our country (curiously, the only European country not to be invaded since Napolean is also the only European country with gun laws as liberal as the US, and a per capita gun ownership rate far higher than the US. Implausable? hardly), but of our individual selves. I refuse to abdicate my freedom by placing it in the hands of the next armed crack addict who decides to rob me by threatening my life with a leathal weapon. It is not me who will "introduce" a gun into the situation, but it WILL be (and has been) me who will counter a gun that has already been introduced.
If you choose to place your life in the hands of a man who has already proven he has no regard for your life by threatening to kill you over your possessions, that is your choice. However, how dare you make that choice for others. You can choose to be his bitch, I choose not to. When law abiding citizens choose to lay down and take it up the ass, criminals have a field day. In fact, it has long been known that criminals fear armed citizens fighting back far more than any threat of jail.
