What is the phone number for Empire windows?

As you can see, this s**t gets ingrained in our head and thats what the advertisers pay anandtech for as much as for click throughs. I'm sure they have a way of seeing how many adds are actually viewed.
I could only answer State Farm. I don't see how your argument is relevant - you can only remember something after you've experienced it, so if you never see an ad, you won't be affected by any.

Once again, ad blocking is preventing the user from experiencing it. Companies pay anandtech so people can "experience" their adds, and if 2/3 of the forum is blocking ads, then the amount they may be a lot less than it could be.

BUT.... they wouldn't click or, or even see the ad's any ways!

While I believe they may never click on them, if they saw them I think some have some sort of effect. Even if you're not "looking" one might jump in your brain here and there. People who block ad's on here are scum just like the people who download warez from torrents. They can justify why they block the ad's all they want, but they are no better than a software pirate. The sad thing is a lot of the people who block ad's would shit all over somebody who admitted they pirated software. So they're not just thieves they're also hypocrites lol. With the same lame "I wouldn't click [buy] it anyways so why does it matter?"

it does matter...

I hope companies that pay to advertise on here don't have somebody from their business reading this thread, it would be a SHAME for Anandtech to loose revenue because some asshats can't let ad's show on their screens. They don't change the experience here at all, and in the end you'll be contributing to companies paying less, or not advertising on here at all. Good job fucktards.

There are forums where using an ad blocker is cause for ban.

it should be like that everywhere. The ad's aren't here because Anand wants to annoy people it's one of thw ways he fuckin makes MONEY! The site is FREE, but some people don't have the decency to respect that. I think it here it should be

1. free site = you let the ad's come up or get fucking banned
or
2. pay to access the site and get no ad's.

If they banned the blockers here I wouldn't loose any sleep, I'm tired of their excuses

"Well, Flash makes my computer unstable!" (fix it fucker Flash won't ever do that on it's own)
"I wouldn't click on them any ways!"
"I don't like ad's wah wah wah!"
"blah blah blah..."

I see all the ads. I have for over eight years now. This is why I would never pay to be a member on AT.

Confused as to the desired effect of this thread. You claim to use ad blockers and on the other seem to be trying to make people feel guilty of taking advantage of the generosity of 'free' sites.

And, I only got the state farm one in the second poll - even have the musical diddy running though my head now - thanks.

I just installed AdBlocker for Safari upon reading the first post. Thanks for the reminder! No Ads FTW!

Anand should start using product placement to supplement the lost ad revenue.

No reason to, they don't allow the truly obnoxious ads that would make me resort to blocking.

There is no desired effect. I'm just spit balling here.

The Ads don't bother me... I'll even click them if something catchs my attention.

If I'm headed to NewEgg for example to buy something... I'll click on an ad to get there... just to help out where I can.

If they start embedding ads in the middle of posts like some forums I see, I'll block 'em or stop hanging out here.
