I don't get the praise for any of that series either. They have always bored me. I suspect the Law movie fans find it fascinating, or something. What good is a cannibal who just sits there and talks??

Are you guys kidding? That movie has phenomenal acting, holy shit. Probably him and Anton Chigurh are the two scariest killers of film history.

Snoozefest! Acting is all fine and dandy, but the entertainment value is nonexistant, IMO.

Usually not. That last scene in Hostel 2 though... that's a completely different story.

Hellraiser series FTW! Some of the most disturbing movies, ever.

I also grew up on Hellraiser;Nightmare on Elm Street/Friday the 13th/Halloween. I'm a big horror/gore/zombie flick fan.

Torture kind of bothers me as well. I found Hostel deeply disturbing. It doesn't phase me when some guy is running away, turns a corner and gets an axe to the skull. But it really bothers me when some guy is tied to a chair and gets the tendons in his knees and ankles drilled out/sliced open so he can't run.

*shivers*

But then again, if the movie disturbs or upsets you in any way, it did it's job, right?

Wow... first time I've ever heard someone call silence of the lambs a snoozefest or horrible. Anyways, back on topic. Real or fake gore does not bother me. I haven't seen Hostel 2 yet, but the "gore" in the first one was silly. They didn't even show most of the good stuff.

There's a Part II? What that a "straight to DVD" movie? I need to get it, then. I always have the complete series of anything I buy.

Some of the scenes in that movie are so well done its hard to think its a movie.
Yes, there are no flying bullets, or massive gore scenes, but the roles the actors portray is excellent.

The second movie was awful and undeserving of the original.
The last one though was actually pretty good.

What did you think of shawshank redemption ?
Was that a snoozefest too ?

Totally different movie. Silence of the Lambs was supposed to be a Horror/Suspense/Thriller and it Fails on all accounts, at least with me. Others think so, I suppose I will just accept it and move on, but for me if I never see it again I will have saved myself some time(couldn't think of a better way to express how little I care for SotL ).

I like movies of every variety, I just don't like every Movie.

yes, the older I get the more sensitive to gore I get. I refuse to see Saw and Hostel after my buddies told me about them.

I can't stand it either, because I tend to imagine what the victim is feeling rather than looking at the scene.

Gore doesn't bother me, but I'm not sure I could watch all four Saw movies in a night. There is something to be said about sensory overload, as the OP mentioned.

Mild gore is not bad, I cannot watch anything that has real medical footage though....makes me ill.

Hostel? No interest
Saw series? No Interest.

My GF can watch that medical stuff all day long, but put a vampire movie or gore scene she gets VERY squeamish.

When "Interview with a Vampire" came out in theater we went to see it.....I looked over and she was on the verge of passing out...eyes rolling back in her head and all......I LMAO all the way home and still tease her about it to this day.

I don't find Al Gore excessive.

Damn. The only reason I came into this thread was to make an Al Gore joke.

Its really a shame that Saw has put so many people off because of the gore.
Its actually an interesting series and the writing in some of the movies is very good..
