That's why I wash my vegetables in the shower.
I have a terrific method for washing vegetables. I hold the open end of the bag I buy them in under the faucet and fill 1/2 way with water and shake, shake, shake, pour out. Do it again, and they are clean. Efficient.

I turn my heat/ac up to max and then vary how much I keep my windows open to keep the temp just right. Just isn't as comfortable any other way.
My neighbor seems to do that. The bitch is that they have the TV on loud!

Yep. We have a POS Ford Taurus that I usually refuse to drive because of how shitty it is on gas; we have about 20 hybrids sitting in the lot at any given time, so there are alternatives. People have given me shit for giving a shit since I don't pay for the gas to begin with.

(Speaking of which, he also used our automatic dishwasher soap for his dishes, almost half a bottle... I found that out after he finished. That was especially irritating considering he had like 10 dishes, took over 30 mins to wash each of them, and left the water running the entire time.)
I could not live with people like that. It would drive me crazy.

Waste does bother me but it's mostly from an economic standpoint rather than an environmental standpoint, although there are certain environmental issues that bother me. Leaving the lights on is a good example - it's like flushing money down the toilet. If you're not in the room, turn the light off, or, if it's daylight out - open a window - or better even yet, go outside, it's nice out there.
I generally do that, but there are exceptions. I leave my front porch light on at night. Don't want the house to look unoccupied cause I don't want to be burglarized. Malcolm X in his great autobiography described his life from the beginning, and in one phase before he was educated he was a criminal. He did numbers in Harlem and he became a burglar. He gave a tip: He said you should leave a light on in the bathroom because that's one room that someone could be in any hour of the day. Therefore, I make sure the light is on in my bathroom during the night. CFL, of course!

Nonsense. I can run the faucet and take a 2 hour shower. Water goes into pipes or ground. Ground cleans it or it's put on plants, plants use it and give some back or it evaporates, makes clouds then it rains, things eat them, then piss out the water, rinse, repeat. Unless you live in a desert there is no reason to be concerned about a few extra hundred gallons of use a month. I pay for it and by god I am going to enjoy it.

That's not how it works, at all. The vast majority of the water you waste goes out to sea and rivers, NOT into the ground. And that is not OK.

Wastefulness only bothers me when it affects me directly. Leave on all the lights you want in your house, but don't leave them on in mine. Run all of your water that you want, but don't run mine. Most importantly I'm for staying the hell out of other people's business so long as they stay the hell out of mine
