In the comics they explain a lot better how the Preds hunt aliens in their teen years to prove themselves worthy. I figured from the trailers that the third Pred would be the older one taking the kids on their first hunting trip, but that evidently wasn't the case.

It was pretty obvious they were inspired by the comics, as well, with the exception of the setting some of the plot aspects were almost identical.

Interesting. I wasn't aware there was a comic series devoted to Predator or did the comic exist before the first movie was even made?

Dark Horse comics had the first AvP series in '89, which was set on a remote desert planet. The heroine was a Japanese female; some of the story elements were similar to the ones in the movie, especially the conclusion.

Then, in Predator 2 (in '92, I think?) there was an alien skull in the trophy case. After that there were more comics, video games, and eventually this flick.

I have much more respect for the Predators though, than those drooling, slimy creatures that do nothing productive apparently other than kill, kill and then for a change of pace, KILL!! That's all the bastards do. At least the Predators have a higher level of intelligence, honor and discipline.

Cool. Ya learn something new everyday. Funny how it went from an Asian heroine in the comics to Arnie in the movie. You can't get more night and day than that!

I enjoyed it. Humorous plot holes combined with good special effects=a fun movie to watch with your friends and make fun of bits of it.

I LOVE the aliens series, but is it true that this movie pays absolutely no homage to the first 4 movies?

Actually, the movie with Arnold was first (but after the first Alien movie, obviously), then the AvP comics, then Predator 2 (no Arnold, but an alien skull in the Predator ship), then an assload of games (AvP2 being pretty good), then this craptastic movie.

That's why a lot of people are diappointed in the movie, AvP is a pretty old idea, but very cool. This movie sucked all the potential fun out of it.

Well, you get to meet the CEO of "The Company" who was also the model used for the "Bishop" synthetics. Other than that, not really. having the movie take place in October 2004 was a dumb idea in my book. You don't get all the cool Marine gadgets!

No, I was saying it was funny that in the comics it featured an Asian woman and then for the first Predator movie that was obviously based upon the comic they choose Arnold Schwarzenegger. That's Hollywood for you.

Thanks! That really sucks though - An aliens movie just isn't an aliens movie without Sigourney Weaver (sp?).

No, no. The comic books came out after Alien, Aliens, and the first Predator film. When I say the film is similar to the comics in some regards I'm talking about AVP.
