Doom 3 TIMEDEMO Results

Ok so I didn't benchmark right and you guys flamed me up so I went and ran the time demo on a few settings.


1600X1200 Ultra Detail 4XAA 4.8 cats 41.6 FPS 4.9 cats 45.2 FPS
1600X1200 Ultra Detail 2XAA 4.8 cats 46.8 FPS 4.9 cats 49.4 FPS

Im sure i'd be over 50FPS if i turned off AA but I dont plan on turning it off.

Still not bad marks considering my card is the lesser performer for Doom 3 out of the current next gen cards. And no i don't favor ATI or anyone else.... I'm even telling my uncle who is gettting a new comp t oget the 6800 ultra so well have both cards in the house. However I do favor AMD over INTEL....

You should have screenshotted the test. People are going to call you various things for these. I'd say your numbers are a bit odd compared to hardocps.

HardOCP used the Cat4.7's. The 4.8's are noticeably faster, plus the 4.9's are noticeably faster than the 4.8's.

His results look pretty accurate to me.

I received my 6800GT today and ran these benchmarks as well.
A64 3000+/MSI K8T NEO/1GB Corsair 2.5/XFX 6800GT

1600X1200 Ultra Detail 4XAA 33.9fps
1600X1200 Ultra Detail 2XAA 45.7fps

So it looks like your X800XT PE is the better card for 4xAA at 16X12 Ultra.

On the other hand, at $400 and running on a much slower system, the 6800GT is pretty remarkable that it can give me the same experience as your rig at the 2X AA 16X12 Ultra detail.

yes, the 6800's are the best doom 3 performers.. no doubt.

Also even if i screenshot the end of the time demo that shows the results that doesnt tel lthe resolution or settings it was run on, and if i take a screen shot during the demo it doesnt say the FPS. So what would stop someone from tkaing a pic at max detail and res and then running the demo on lower settings and taking the screenshot of those results? Unless you came here and watched me run the demo you just have to take my word that I have no desire to lie about my computers ability to play doom 3. As a matter of fact I'm not talking about it anymore, these are my current benchmarks and until the next cats release they are what they are.

Selso's also running an FX-53 and some insanely fast memory. I would say that comparing your two systems would be difficult on a good day.

Selso, people gave you a hard time over your first benchmarks because you didn't run them properly. You shouldn't hold a grudge about the ordeal. People are always skeptical of other people's benchmarks on these forums. If anyone can vouch for that it's Rollo.

HardOCP used the Cat4.7's

Wrong. HardOCP used beta Catalyst 4.9 (check the version numbers) in their original benchmarking article.
