I am not a huge fan of it, either... I just started playing Far Cry online... I love the game... D3 just doesnt do the same for me... esp. considering how hard it is to get high FPS from it.

You haven't played Half Life have you?

The sound quality and immersiveness of Half Life do not compare to Doom3 IMO. You could hear other people talking though.

If you don't like the game, then why did you think it was too short?

Because I finished it in less than 6 hours? What's your point?

My point is that typically if you really don't like something you want it to be over as soon as possible.

Was asking that really necessary?

I figure I might as well play it through if i bought it. I will give it a try online. Maybe it will be a better expierience. And when the MODS come out it might help.

Where were all you guys when Painkiller came out? He look at me, I'm a proud owner of a game I hate!

Are you saying that Painkiller is good or bad? (I've been wanting to check it out.)

You should check it out, Painkiller is a good game. The last level is really neat (Although not as neat now that I have played doom3 ).

Also, anyone who beat Doom3 in 6 hours must have played in easy difficulty and ran past most things. I've played 8 hours minimum at this point and I am just at the communication tower in Veterans difficulty. I'd say its about a 20 hour game, which is pretty good for an FPS.

I didn't like it as much as Doom. But if you want to talk about repetitive gameplay, can't get much worse than Painkiller. And gamespot gave it the same score as Doom 3.

If you beat the game in 6 hours, there's no way you allowed yourself to get taken in to the game's atmosphere. Most everyone here that actually likes the game is taking their time (like me) and really getting immersed into the game/atmosphere. As to the whole been there, done that thing you'd said on an earlier post, seriously, what did you expect? Id and Carmack openly said that they were recreating the original Doom, and that that is really what you should expect in terms of gameplay (just updated). I get the feeling you're being overcritical of the game, but oh well, you'll still have your opinions and I'll still have mine

You didnt finish the game in 6 hours. Even if you had it in god mode, you couldn't finish the game in 6 hours.

I'm having fun punching coke cans
Killing a few friendlyies, then restarting.
Generally, just experimenting with gameplay.

Once, I shot one of those mini-gun guys with a shotgun, his leg got stuck in the ladder he was walking down, and he started convulsions. (pretty freaky) He was making this horrible noise, and flopping around violently with his leg stuck in the ladder, until he died. (spooky  )

He probably made some creative use of 'noclip' , possibly on easy mode.

Either way, if you rush through it to beat it in 6 hours, then you obviously aren't playing it for the experience, but merely for the 'bragging rights' to have said you beat the game.

My only problem with D3 is not being able to use the flashlight and hold your weapon at the same time. Thats just stupid. If this was real life and I didnt have a strap, I'd take my shoe laces off and tie it to the freakin gun.

Other than that its...DOOM! Good stuff, though they shouldn't be so cheap on the ammo. I can't imagine playing this on Nightmare with the amount of ammo present.

And again, FarCry is overrated. yeah you have those big maps, but most of the time you are walking to some other part of the island. Pretty water and nothing else IMO. I'm not even so sure HL is a better game than D3. I've only played D3 for a few hours, but I finished HL twice and yeah it had some cool scripted events, and the storyline seemed cool, but D3's story at least up to now seems better, and creepier. Like when you go into the executive offices and see that pentagram...the sounds are insane.

Anyways, I'll get more time in this weekend, but so far D3 is great. I don't really know what you guys were expecting. I mean...you Doom 3 bashers actually played Doom before right?

I first tried it on easy mode, no cheats, i bypassed any video cutscenes and just got to the meat of the game. Maybe I exaggerated the 6 hour thing but I did finish in one sitting. I am trying it in multiplayer to see how it plays online.

How could you play such a horrible game for over 6 hours straight?

I think it is a disappointment compared to FarCry.

As far as the Graphics are concerned, with the exception of shadows and Pix Shad I thought I was playing the Original Unreal on a Voodoo 5, using Glide.

Painkiller's graphics are better. Doom and Carmack are so Quake/Voodoo. The hand holding the guns are the same ones in QuakeII.

Overall, I would still buy it, knowing what I know now because I like playing all FPS games.

If the Hype was not so big, I would be applauding the game.

I still call Shens.

Took me 4 days 3 hours a day. And I'm hardcore when I play.

You must have "give all" "god" "noclip" to finish it in under 10.

"Shens"? What? Are we in 3rd grade here? Why is it not conceivable that it could be finished in several hours? Jeez, you guys really need to get over sh!t. Its just a game.

Okay I am going to have to correct myself a bit, I first found the Flashlight to be very annoying, now I think I finally get what Carmack was trying to do. I am in the Delta Labs (2 half) and I am actually enjoying the game, I think I was just expecting soooo much more that I wasn't really being fair. I can easily give the game 8 out of 10. Problem is I don't know if thats based partly on what I expected or just compared to other games. True multiplayer is for kids...way lame...single player experiance is fun...no doubt it helps to wear headphones, turn off the lights, and wait till the kids are in bed (-:

Multiplayer is less fun then QIII and will not hold my interest very long...thanks Carmack for the 5 year wait and the $60.00 down the drain.

NOT IMPRESSED! (Reviewers must have got some compensation?)

Ditto!
