So what are the standards for these benchies?? Are we to assume that everyone is benching with all of the advanced options on or are they turned off to squeeze out extra perfromance??? I know everyone running at High quality settings and above are at least using 8X AF at a minium but with so many variables hard to say what's really going on.

Folks are telling us what settings they are using. Whether it is level of AA in NV or ATI Control Panel or from within the game. Low, Medium, High or Ultra quality. What driver version is being used. Theres nothing really left to assume. Unless of course you want to. This consolidation can only get as detailed as people want to post. Most everyone is finding it extremely useful to get an idea of how a certain card will run on a certain platform with various settings.

Did you have a question about something?

No I was just curious if it was standardized or not and after a second it appears to be in some instances. I know some people are very detailed as to whether the settings in the control panel are set to quality or performance and some are vague. I know the control panel settings are quality for the 6800 GT, 6800 Ultra, x800 PRO and X800XT. In game settings are straight forward.
thanks for you reply though.

Teh Boomp

Sentimental time: Just sold my 5900U on Ebay to a nice guy who will give it a good home. *sigh*.
But the upside is.......... GT tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!!! ::::oes happy dance::::::

Will post benches with the GT tomorrow night.

I know I said I wanted to wait for PCI-E, but patience wore thin and it doesn't look like they will be here anytime soon and mobos are few and far between AFAIK.

I have AF turned off in my Nvidia control panel...maybe thats the difference. Or maybe its that you're running a GT on an XP Mobile with PC2700 ram.

Other than the overclock and changing the cfg to run the 1920x1440 bench I don't have any other tweaks done.

If it makes you feel any better it slows to 56.3 fps at 1600x1200 when I turn the VSync back on.

Welcome to the club Keys.
I have a similar system like yours (mine is a 2.8c).Once you'll get over the first amazing impressions you will see what I was talkin about...(cpu bottleneck)
I'm not ungrateful for what I have but it's a shame to see such a great gpu being somehow wasted
Anyway congrats. I'll surely keep in mind to look at your scores for performance issues.

FX-53 seems to handle the work as it should...

Finally tested Doom3.
BFG 6800GT
A64 3200+ 2.3ghz
61.77 drivers

1600x1200 High Quality

350/1000 - 58.6 FPS <<stock speed of reference 6800GT>>
370/1000 - 60.9 <<stock speed of BFG 6800GT>>

370/1030 - 61.3
400/1030 - 64.1
425/1030 - 66.3 <<my optimal setting for Doom3>>
435/1030 - 66.9 FPS

My card's memory can only overclock 30mhz. But memory doesn't limit the card much until the core hits 435mhz where the slow memory starts to limit the core.

Finally got around to doing some real benchmarking. Here are my system specs:

Shuttle XPC SB61G2R (865 chipset)
P4 2.8C
2x512MB Kingston HyperX (dual channel, 2-3-3-6 timings)
WD Raptor 36GB (OS and apps, Doom 3 is on this disk)
BFG 6800GT OC 370/1000 (comes overclocked standard)
61.77 drivers

All settings at "High Quality"

1600x1200 0xAA - 54.8
1600x1200 2xAA - 48.5
1600x1200 4xAA - 37.2
1600x1200 8xAA - 9.3
1600x1200 16xAA - 9.3

1280x1024 0xAA - 61.2
1280x1024 2xAA - 56.8
1280x1024 4xAA - 47.1
1280x1024 8xAA - 15.4
1280x1024 16xAA - 9.5

I think this is pretty interesting...would everyone agree that above 4xAA I'm GPU limited? Or am I also being held back by my CPU?
