For all you Linux geeks, Id has finally made Doom3 native client aviable for you. No more running WineX for all your Doom3 needs.

For others you can compare your Linux vs Windows performance, I guess. If your using a ATI card, it'll probably suck, but Nvidia users will probably be pleasently suprised.

here is the bittorrents put out by id

FYI on that page you have bittorrents for:
Doom3 Windows demo
Doom3 Linux client
Doom3 Linux Demo
Doom3 update patch for Windows
Enemy territory for linux
Wolf ET for Windows
Wolf update patch.

Holy crap!

It only took 5 seconds to download the Doom3 linux client torrent!!! This is swapped with seeders!

I was getting 400+ KB/s.... That's BYTES..

As in I GOT 3+ Mb/s download, that's the fastest I ever downloaded anything, ever!! 3 T1's worth of download bandwidth.
Bittorrent rocks!

edit:

I decided to download the ET client for Linux, right now my connection is topping out at 498KB/s....

No, it's just the linux binary.

It will ask for the CDs for all the data files.

Well if it's illegal, thet it's very queer when you look at who is providing the bittorrent!!

Also if you want you can have a nice fancy GUI installer from Loki installers for linux games, download it at here

I originally got the info from Linux-gamers.net

from what i've seen in running doom3 in linux so far is that, like quake3, the max frame rate isn't quite as high as in windows, but it also does not fluxuate as much as how it does in windows. of course, my comparison was done using a geforce3 . anyone report similar findings with a 6800?.
