So i got a roccat kone+ mouse and its the first laser mouse i use, been ising the msi 3.0 forever. Im usually a low sense gamer, and i find myself using only 400 to 800 dpi out of the 6000 it has available. New to the laser business, my friend states that increasing the dpi to maximum and lowering windows /ingame sense will improve mouse accuracy, is this true?

It depends.

First, it depends on how much you move the mouse. If you move your whole hand and arm around, you won't need high DPI. Good tracking, yes, but not high DPI. If you move with your fingers, you can never have enough DPI.

Then, it will be game dependent. Some games have odd behaviors tied to movement amount and speed (such as acceleration tied to movement, allowing you to aim a turret or similar faster with high DPI), and some have exceptionally coarse angular movement (Gamebryo, FI), which begs for very high DPI and low in-game sensitivity, and/or dynamically selectable sensitivities. In general, you want mouse DPI and game sensitivity set so that you can effortlessly make single pixel aim changes (match both sensitivities up to a comfortable physical amount of mouse movement).

I have a decent sized mousepad which i usually use up when playing FPS games, RPG games not so much however but still use a decent chunk of it. Is it really true that the laser reacts so much differently than a optical mouse? Never had trouble with my MSI 3.0, i just configured in-game sensitivity and then good to go.

I thought DPI was all about how much it tracked per inch of movement, so it makes sense to me to keep it high and lower windows/in-game sensitivities to my liking other than changing the DPI, as far as i am aware sensitivity has nothing to do with accuracy of tracking.
