I started a 2H Dwarf Warrior that will be my main DPS (well we'll see about that). Only level 4 so fare but it's been fun. Not lost of skills to play around but enough "passive" abilities to see the benefits.

Next run will probably be a Conan-like DPS Rogue with DW...or a Mage. Mages look fun in this game, like they were in DA:O.

I really like the character animations so far, they have more "personalities" then in many modern games i've played.

I don't feel bad for paying full price (GMG discount) for this game.

While where you are going, is the research bench which is good as it give you the attack bonuses to enemies.

Yes you have to have recipes before you can craft, either by purchasing them or finding them as loot

1) you have to have recipes for the item you want.
2) you go to the blacksmith in Haven.
3) you select the craft armor or craft weapons bench
4) select the item you want to craft.
5) add the materials.

Done.

Edit - here is a pax video showing it off

NWN 2 was not demanding so much as poorly coded. When it came out there were better looking games that ran faster.
The 8 years you waited also included loads of patches to improve performance.

Also, it came out October 31, 2006 so are you saying that just a couple weeks ago you finally maxed it out?

Um...demanding has nothing to do with how poorly or greatly coded it is. It either demands so much GPU or not.

Past Bioware games have trained players to accomplish every side quest possible before moving on to the main quest.

Past Bioware games did not have what you might call an open world sandbox style to it. While you can do every side quest (though good luck with that, as even in the Hinterlands there are level 12+ areas), it really doesn't appear to be intended, like the previous games. They appear to be melding together two different styles of games. I'm not sure I like that, but it hasn't been too bothersome, but I do end up becoming bored at times, where I might not have in the past. Boredom is my queue to move on to another area.

What sort of system usage do you guys see? I am seeing (roughly) the below with the system in my sig:

CPU usage: 20-40% average across all cores, with occasional spikes
GPU usage: just under 100%; pegs at max boost
GPU Memory: using ~3.8GB
System Memory: ~6GB

Video settings as follows: All maximum except the following:

Tesselation: High
MSAA: Off

Most everything made sense, but I was a little surprised at the memory usage. I am using about 25% more pixels vs. standard 1440P, but that's a lot of memory with no MSAA being used.

DA:I developed with console as main platform

consoles have 8GB unified RAM now, so it's not surprising that DA:I tries to use all your available VRAM

You also have the weapon and armor mod benches at the blacksmith (honestly, I feel they should consolidate these into one bench each for weapon and armor, but there it is)

each armor (not helmets) piece has two slots--arm and feet--that you can freely add or remove, if you have those specific upgrades. They are linked to either light, medium or heavy types. You can also craft upgrades the same way you craft the armor or weapon

weapons can have up to 3 (that I've seen so far) upgrade slots. moving them from item to item is free, so when it comes to picking up junk, I suggest inspecting all your white or crappier gear for upgrades that can be removed, before selling them. And when you upgrade to a new piece of loot, swap out your current upgrades to the new item, if you have nothing better.

My only big complaint with the game so far is the voice acting of the player character (PC) is just awful. As opposed to DA2 and the Mass Effect series, where the PC had personality, DA:I sounds as if the game was originally designed to not have a voiced PC like DA:O, but then at the last minute they decided to voiceover all of the PC dialogue options. And the lines are delivered as if in a vacuum, without someone on the opposite side of the conversation to give context for the actor. Luckily the PC doesn't have that much dialogue to give.

The problem with this is you're now overpowered for the main quests. The first main quest suggests levels 4 to 7.

It wasnt a problem at all. I was lvl 10 when i did the templar mission, & i felt badass whipping through the enemies. Which is as i should feel cause im the friggin herald of a deity!!!

Anyways, game is awesome & gorgeous, no regrets paying full price as they deserve it....now if they could just hurry up with that Sli patch!!!

Just because you are a herald, does not mean that you get special powers, but in this case you kinda do as you get the ability to close the rifts

As the general meaning of a herald is a official / royal messenger

It's not that bad, but it does lack personality, which I think may have been their intention. Everyone has their own idea on how their character should sound, rather than giving him a distinct personality, they gave him a generic one.

FWiW, it seems that Bioware tends to have better female voice actors for their main player characters in these games. I usually like to play one of each.

I do like the male Shepard dude in Mass Effect, but the lady that does the voicing was always quite popular, from what I recall.

So I decided to activate helmets (had it disabled since I started my playthrough)...

I don't regret:

OK - So if you find or loot a item that has a Rune it is - you cant remove it and use it on something else. I found 2 very good exact armors for my tank- both have one good rune in it- so I was hauling both of them around thinking I could take out the rune in one of them and use it on another item. Guess NOT. So , I will sell one- thanks.

There's 4 PC voice actors. Which one are you talking about? I'm enjoying Alix Wilton Regan, though I think she dulled the accent back a bit from Samantha Traynor in ME3.

Ed: split 1 male American / 1 male British / 1 female American / 1 female British accents.

The male american. The problem is the lines sound really forced most of the time, like the actor was just reading off a list of lines one after another. They don't sound like part of a conversation at all.

Female American sounds like that too. All 4 PC voice options are very bland in comparison to the other voice work in the game and definitely worse than Bioware's previous voiced main protagonist characters, Shepard and Hawke.

hah! that's a bitching hat.

I still have the "Talk to the Hand" sword that you get off the Templar captain in that Hinterlands side quest....definitely some bizarre, anachronistic designs in this game.

Yeah Hawke is exceptional, when you meet him in DA:I his lines are delivered so well that the contrast between your char and his is quite dramatic I found. The guy playing Hawke does a really good job. the voice actor for Iron Bull though is absolutely awesome, by far the best delivery, though he has great lines he does them very well constantly cracks me up.

Protip: The first time you kill a dragon take Iron Bull with you in your party, trust me it is totally worth it!

-GameTime.MaxSimFps 60 -GameTime.ForceSimRate 60+
Step 4: Click Ok then Click Play and Enjoy!
Important! Make sure you have the latest Nvidia & AMD drivers installed as this can help eliminate other problems not related to the Fix.
Bugs & Fixes: (Will be updated when Issues and Fixes arise)
Will cause problems with Multiplayer, To use fps fix: run the game from the modified shortcut and to play Multiplayer mode: run the game through Origin (without the command line).
Applying the fix before character creation can sometimes make your character end up loading into a fiery rocky area with no escape after the Cutscene. You can avoid this by either skipping the Cutscene, or by enabling the fix after you create your character. Last Resort Go into my documents and delete the saves/profiles and then start a new game and it should be fixed
If your FPS is dropping and fluctuating causing CTD's just adjust the ingame graphics settings to balance Visual Quality and Performance.

My 290X at 1440p and Ultra presets usually managed ~50fps in most gameplay and its plenty playable, but when it switches to the 30fps cutscenes, its jarring to the eyes.
