Can you tell me what disrupting a rift actually does? At first, I always tried to disrupt them, but I've not noticed anything different from disrupting them, and simply killing what comes out. The only exception was the first boss fight at the end of the initial mission, which disrupting the rift caused him to drop his guard.
If you are successful, it will damage the currently spawned demons, killing them if they are low enough on health. You can only disrupt it once per spawn, and can only really kill the rift after the final wave is gone.
I don't even try to disrupt anymore, because it's so easy to be interrupted and you have to kill the waves anyway.
One of the info cards mentioned that the dispel spell can be used to banish demons before they spawn--so that moment when their green haze is appearing and before they pop. I need to try this and see if it actually works. Templar has their own skill that can do this, as well.
