The last good, fully fleshed out, believable characters(actually integral to a plot) I can remember that are black were Alex and Eli Vance from 2004's Half Life 2 and I play plenty of games. That's just how it is with video games, usually a bunch of stereotypes thrown in for the afterthought that is a story.
Without thinking more than 2 seconds I thought of Res Evil 5 where your partner throughout the whole game, Sheva Alomar, is African. Mercenaries 2 also comes to mind. Oh, and GTA4. and GTA:SA. This is a pointless exercise.
Was this a serious post? Did you even read my entire post?
1. I've never played Mercenaries 2.
2. Yes. GTA 4, a Jamaican accented, reggae, pot smoking/dealing black man from the poor side of town with illegal weapons and ends up killing others. What a refreshing non-sterotype. GTA:SA yes, drug dealing, gang-banging black men from the projects. Again not a stereotype at all. GTA is the absolute worst game you could ever bring up for respectable, non stereotypical characters.
3. I played RE5 recently and I honestly cant tell you I remember anything about Sheva besides that her parents died and she works with you. She didn't exactly have all that much of a personality, most of her lines consisting of her being confused, horrified or just talking about objectives and enemies.
I can't believe you mentioned 3 of the 4 worst examples I could think of (Coletrain being the other). Just because they exist doesn't make them a good, non-sterotypical and memorable black character.
I have no idea where you grew up or lived that either a) made you hate black people so much to think the GTA games are fair representations of them or b) have no idea what black people are. You did not mention a single memorable
