I´m going to Frisco, TX(suburban area 25 miles north of Dallas) as a exchange student.
The school I´ll attend to, Centennial High School and I don´t like what I read in the dresscode the have there.
http://www.friscoisd.org/back/dresscode.htm
Look at the Secondary Dress Code:
The following statements serve as guidelines for areas where doubt might prevail:
? ?Sagging pants? are not allowed. Jeans, slacks, shorts, and all other pants must be worn at or about the waist at all times.
? Inappropriate exercise clothing will not be allowed without an appropriate covering garment.
? Pants and other articles of clothing that are torn, ragged, or pants with holes are not permitted.
? Sunglasses, caps, hats, bandanas, and other headwear are not to be brought into the building.
? Hairstyles or unnatural hair colors that, in the judgment of the school principal, cause a disruption of the educational environment are not allowed.
? Clothing should be worn for the purpose for which it was designed. No undergarments or pajamas are to be worn as outerwear. Houseshoes are not permitted.
? Pants and other articles of clothing that are torn, ragged, or pants with holes are not permitted.
This part I dislikes the most.
Most of the European designers make clothing that´s supposed to look torned and worn in.
And holes by the kneecaps is nothing but fashionable.
Would they prohibit me from wearing goodlooking jeans, with kneecapholes?
And what about this:
? Earrings are permissible. All other visible body-piercing jewelry or ornaments are prohibited.
Ain´t I allowed to have a toungepiercing? Will they force me to remove it?
I´m getting a bit worried.
No way I´m giving up my piercing, and I´m used to be able to wear whatever I want. Don´t want to give up my style of clothing either...
I´m getting a bit worried.
Could someone please tell me if the dress code is strict or if they doesn´t really care so much about it at school.

Yet Americans bitch and moan when in Europe that no one speaks english. I love it.
Only idiots would complain about that. You go to Germany, you should either speak German or stick tight to your tourist group.Originally posted by: brigden

Wow. Dress code up here at Vancouver public high schools and most colleges/universities aren't nearly as strict as that.

I'm worried about your reading comprehension. On the other hand, you'll probably fit right in.
Why? I don´t think I´m that bad in speaking/writing/understanding English?
Couldn´t you tell me what I missunderstood in the text instead of posting comments like that?

There are actually some universities that have dress codes up there? Are they religious universities or something?

I remember a college I got information from. It was in Florida, and was a bit strict. Dress code for guys at meals was a suit at breakfast, suit at lunch, suit or tuxedo for dinner if I recall correctly.
Off-campus dating was allowed in groups, and supervised by faculty.
Students were encouraged to rat each other out for contraband (music, magazines, books, etc. that did not meet their high moral standards). If roommate A did not rat out roommate B, and it was found out that roommate B had pornography (I heard of a case where a student's anatomy book was classified as pornography) and roommate A knew about it and didn't tell, both would get kicked out. It happened over that anatomy book, but I cannot recall if it was at the college I am thinking of. It may have been a similar one.

Must be a religious one.
