whats up everyone

just wondering if i there was any easytouse app that could block oustide access to my secondary internal hardrives, as they have certain important files

What do you mean exactly? Hard drives are not directly accessible over a network. Are you looking to make sure that certain things aren't accessible via windows file sharing?

if i understand what you are saying, not really.. i was just trying to see if there was a specific app that would block certain IPs or hackers

That's what a normal firewall does. It blocks it at the NIC.

By important, what do you mean? Just because they are important to you doesn't mean they mean a thing to any hackers. I have important files too, but I'm one of a billion or two computers out there, why would they target me or you?

Because in general they don't target individuals, they let their bots break into machines and then do whatever they want with the ones that were successful. You're no more or less safe than the guy living next to you.

IIRC, the bots search for specific ports generally, like those used by servers. My tests with port monitoring showed that there was a spike in traffic only when I turned on my web server. Otherwise all is quiet, more or less.
