Sounds kinda fun... and weird.Originally posted by: Ackmed
Where I grew up, that was the only way to get your car into town. It was a very small, very remote town in Alaska. There was no way to get your car to town, other than that. About a 25 miles ride, thru a few mountains.

It was very remote, and old military town actually. You get fly there, take a boat, or a train. That was it. The air strip was very, very small. Most planes landed in the sound. Only 300 people in my town. No paved roads, no cable TV, or any type of TV. Our phones were on 3 digits only, not 7. Two cops, that were also fire fighters. Tunnels under the city, so that school was never canceled for snow. Even though the entire school could be covered by snow. Little town called Whittier, about 50 miles SE of Anchorage.

Sounds like a good place to hide when North Korea and Iran join forces and invade.
