I love this place.
Honestly, this is nothing more than a bragging thread from him. Linking all his furniture, stating the costs, and saying he's above getting stuff off of craigslist.
But hey, if I had money I'd probably brag too.
bingo
and yeah, the whole past month i was searching for stuff i scoured craigslist and inquired for a few... i got the cash now, i want some good stuff that i'd use for many years

well if it cracks when i plop down on it, they'd replace it.
I guess the whole point is that if you lay down 4,300 for something you don't have to worry about them replacing it. Otherwise, why buy something like that?
It's like these morons who buy high-end unreliable cars and then b!tch when it sits in the garage for weeks. Well, you shouldn't have been a doof in the first place.
Well, at least high end model cars come with style and excitement!
I just cant justify spending $4k on a couch. It just something you sit on.
I can justify it, but not from C&B or Pottery Barn. Ethan Allen, probably. It's all a matter of relative value.
It's like when my wife and I were up in NYC the last time. We were in times square looking for some eats. Saw TGIF and went in. A burger was $17. I called BS and just got up and left (much to my wife's chagrin). We walked half a block and went to an Irish pub. A burger was $8 and was 100x better than some pre-made trash TGIF burger.

How many shares do you need to own? would one share of brk.b work?

He totally deserved it. He paid more than $4k for a chenille sectional sofa from fscking Crate and Barrel. If he really needed to dump the $4k, he could have given it to me, and I could've picked him up the same couch at Wickes' for less than $2k and pocketed the difference.
Here's a tip for the OP: you don't drop that kind of money on furniture unless you're picking out the colors with a professional and delivery takes 6-8 weeks (because they have to custom-build it for you).

Still need bedroom furniture and furniture for the den... ugh... still have no HDTV or stereo or ceiling fans or water softener or water filter, or accent furniture(ottoman or coffee table)...
What about your place? How much was it for you? or did you all get stuff from parents and craigslist?

Dude, you have way too much money.
My wife and I just bought a 3 seater leather (not pleather or vinyl) couch brand new for $600.

Hehehehehe, you're paying retail for furniture? No wonder.
Well, its a brand new house, might as well go with brand new QUALITY furniture
So Crate & Barrel is the only place that sells new, quality furniture?
Those pieces aren't even unique to Crate & Barrel.
Furniture Buying Tip #1
The places with the best furniture deals have the smallest showrooms.
When I was shopping for my bedroom furniture, I went to two big retail stores to check out different styles, but when it came time to make my purchase I went to an independent dealer who had almost no floorspace but ordered the pieces directly from the manufacturer. Needless to say, I paid an average of 30% less over various pieces I bought.

You have expensive tastes! For example, I would never have paid $4300 for a couch. Our sofa was ~$800 and I still felt the pinch. (It was Broyhill or some similar brand, and made-to-order in the USA.)
