Which bios are you guys using with your DS3?

Yeah I have the f4 bios too. Having another problem...neither the raid manager nor easytune4 will run on my system, both crash instantly.

The EasyTune5 I download from the website doesn't work, but the EasyTune5 I install from the provided CD works for some reason. Don't know why.

I don't use RAID so I can't help you there.

No, gigabyte uses the a, b, c...etc to designate beta versions, then chops them off for final. For example, the next beta in the line would be F5a.

True enough it is a beta

However, I had bad luck with all the others before it. I had to use E to suit my needs.

F4e and running ok now. Had to play with my VDIMM a bit, but it seems stable.

Guess I'm confused as to which one is more recent. The guys on XtremeSystems made me think that the F4e was the latest, but if it's not I'll happily try the F4. The gigabyte website says that the F4 was released on 8/11, which was about a week before I saw the F4e out on the forums. I dunno lol

I am using the F4c I think, couldn't get it to boot with my OCZ ram with the earlier ones.

I'm using F5c on my DS3

Came with F3, but I flashed to F5C immediately and it owns. See sig for details.

BTW, I'm running the HD and DVD drives on the GigaByte controller. Not using the Intel SATA2 sockets.

Does the F5c seem more stable with OCZ? I'm having alot of issues and running the F4 final.

What do I need to know about prepping a new DS3 board? Everytime I see the DS3 mentioned, people always saying "make sure you are using the F4 bios." Do I need to update it right away or can I do my build then update later?

Is there anything special I need to know about updating the bios? Could I boot to a floppy and run a flash tool? Or is there a special flasher built into the bios?

You can flash the BIOS using the Q Flash tool within the BIOS, so if you can boot up, I'd recommend flashing to the latest BIOS right away. All you need to do is put the BIOS file in a CD, flash drive, or floppy disk.

I don't know about the F4 BIOS 'cause I never used it. As I said earlier, I flashed straight to F5C from F3. My system's very stable using OCZ Platinum RAM w/ the 5FC.

Will the stock bios allow me to boot up with a E6400?

Yes. With everything at Normal settting, the E6400 boots w/ 1.265V on Vcore and 1.9V on Vmem.
