dsl(pppoe) and 56k modem

I have a small office network and am using Sympatico business DSL (canada)for my internet connection. I am sharing this using a Linksys router. everything works fine.The problem lies in that I have to use a modem (56k) to connect to one of my clients computers. It seems the 56k connection seems to overide the high speed connection (on the machine using the modem). The question: Is there a way to keep the rest the internet running at high speed and still maintain the 1 56k connection using the modem. Excuse my ignorance but I am fairly new at this....thanks

Yeah, this has to do with Windows preferring a dialup route over an ethernet route. Go figure. You need to adjust your routing table. Check the routing table ("route print" from a DOS box) before you dialup, then check it again while you are dialed up. You will see what I mean. You have to add a route for the network you are dialing into, and also input a new default route just like the one that exists before you dialed up. If you need more specific instructions, post both of the routing tables (before dialup is connected and after dialup is connected) here and I or some of the other people in there will be happy to tell you exactly what to type. Thanks but I am at home just now so am unable to get the info until tomorrow. Is there anyway I can read the "formula" for this and figure it out myself? Or is it one of those 6 month courses. Thanks for the info
