Hello everyone, just got my dsl modem today from winfire. I guess their service is not as bad as i thought it would be. Connecting at 1,536,000 bps. Finally got rid of the old fashion 56k modem. What a new year resolution!!!
damn you luck SOB...I actually signed up for their service a while back too, but I got lazy and stop responding to their emails. Maybe I shoulda stuck w/ it.
the plan i signed up for is also $20.00. However, i think quality of the phone line also plays an important role during downloading. I was downloading directx 8.0 today, at one point i was downloading at 100k a sec. Well, i guess i could be lucky.
Yeah.. think the easiest way to get rid of the toolbar and ads (if you went for the free service) is to set up a server and run your comps through the server... but I don't want to leave a comp on. So going the router route...
i am still on dial-up at 28.8 to make it worse, got a p-II 350mhz, pc100 ram, and Win98 to finish it off. hopefully i will get a 1ghz soon and dsl or something. Getting Win2000 soon, hehe.
Thank God you don't have Telocity DSL. I do, but it's pretty much the best broadband thing I have going. "My Telocity" DSL is down more than it is up. I can get Road Runner too, but it's choked big time on the uplink. I still retain a trusty 56K ISP account for backup when Telocity does it's daily crash.
