I am planning on upgrade my current 3x2gb Dominator GT 1866.
But most nowadays rams are 2 stick kit and higher speed(2000+).
And they are advertised as dual channel ram and compatible w/ X79 Z77 and etc..
I know the dual/tri/quad channel thing is a mobo feature rather than the ram themselves. and the packaging them in tri or dual kit is just for marketing probly.
But just in case, I'd ask if I put 3 sticks of that kind in my X58 to "force" them work in tri channel, would the performance(speed/timing/stability) be the same as they were on a dual channel mobo, but this time, in a tri channel.
My system:
Mobo: Evga X58 Classified E760
CPU: i7 920 (it will OC up to 4.5ish but 4.2 solid stable)
Thank you guys!
