Dual Ethernet Question

OK, this may sound like a strange/stupid question. I have two PC's with onboard ethernet (10/100) and PCI Gigabit ethernet cards. Since I'm a moron, I got Gigabit cards without Wake On LAN support.

My question is: Can I use both cards on the same network, the Gigabit for the speed and the onboard for the WOL support?

i don't see why not. perhaps someone else will contradict me, but it should be possible. they each have seperate unique mac addresses so there shouldn't be a problem.

I'm definitely not a networking guru, but this is just the same as if you had installed two networking cards in PCI slots and were running two separate branches of a network on them. Or, as in my case, my mobo has two LAN ports built in, and clearly it is intended that both can be in use for two network branches. In such a structure one advantage is that the computer and its networking software become an active link between the two branches, capable of exercising control over what passes between them.
