I have two internet connection. One is cable ( 3.0 downloads 256 uploads ) and the other is DSL ( 256 downloads and 1.0~1.8 uploads ). I would like to be able to utilize all this bandwidth on single connections and maintain very good latency. It may or may not be useful to know that I can get any number of private IP addresses assigned to me through the cable company. I don't want to spend too much money, and I am willing to spend many hours learning about networking ( for the human capital and for entertainment / challenge ).
I have never configured such a complex network/system, so please bere with me.
Here is a Linux howto that describes steps for doing this, but I am having a hard time understanding how it all works together. I guess where I get really confused is the part where external nodes learn how to send packets to the right address of the two when source tags are coming out the other ISP. Do I need a domain name to do this? How is this supposed to work?
I also found a program called wondershaper that claims to be an easy to use traffic shaper. I guess it's not assured stable. Has anyone used this?
What other solutions could there be? Can I manually configure each computer somehow?
TYtyTYIA for any replies. I hope this thread becomes helpful to others aswell and I will surely post my results once this is all over with. In the meantime ( while that meantime is sparetime ), I will experiment and research until I find something significant.
