Dual Monitor setup question

Was wondering how the new graphic cards handle running to monitors side by side in clone mode. My old 4870 had 2 dvi connectors so I could plug my plasma in at the same time to view video. I noticed that new cards have mostly 1 dvi and 1hdmi is this basically the same? Just use the hdmi to the tv instead of the dvi to hdmi cable im using now? Sorry for the noob question been some years (e8600) since I upgraded anything and am contemplating what I need for my new system.

I think it's fine. Personally, I've done side-by-side monitors for various 58XX series AMD cards, but I also did it for older NVidia cards (7950GT, 6600GT, 8600M GT) too.

Now that windows has the built-in shortcut key combo of [Windows key]+P, it's very easy to toggle between duplicate/clone and extended/different stuff on each monitor.

Yep, you're pretty much right on all couts Blazinty. Dual screens nowadays is cake. When you get past 2 screens, then you need to start using displayport and the like, but with 2, easy peasy.
