Dual PIII question

I posted earlier today about a quad PIII and decided it was more cost effective to go with a dual. However, I was wondering if you could mix processsor speeds in a dual board. My thought was that it would probably drop the higher processor to the speed of the lower processor. Just need more info. Thx

yes you can, but it is unsupported by intel.

my dad is running a 600EB and a 667 on his i840 board. works just fine

I tried that with a dual pII 400 setup... the stepping was more than 2 off, and every time a sound was played, the computer would lock up.

I personally would not try it.

well it didnt work becuase you are supposed to have the same stepping if you are doing different speeds...
