I should say I don't personally hate the game. However I haven't beaten it yet either.

Just saying retailing it for $50 - $60 was ridiculous. If you can wait & get it cheaper. Then do so.

It's not the worst game and to me is for Duke fans as well as people into that kind of fun trashy genre. Like I said above.

Yes I meant when Serious Sam first came out. Even Serious Sam 2 was $20 & so will be Serious Sam 3. That's just now Croteam team roles. Not saying at all that all game makers should sell there games for $20. Just Croteam knows what kind of game they are making and a fair price to retail it at.

I think the Postal games are indie produced. I never played them. A friend showed me Postal 2.

I also know that 2K Games is trying to recoup as much as possible from this mess.

Anyways it's out & done with. Well see what Gearbox does with supporting it....

I wouldn't count on SS3 being $20. My guess is $40.

Their, not there. Additionally. SS and SS:SE have been out for almost a decade. Who gives a crap what their prices are?

Comparing the modern price of an ancient game to the modern price of a modern game is ridiculous.

The Serious Sam "HD" games on Steam are basically graphical upgrades to the originals, and haven't been out for as long.

I own every Serious Sam game ever released. There's a couple bonus levels for each of the HD versions, too, but you're absolutely right in that they're just re-releases of a game that came out years and years and years prior.

Not in this case.

DNF is solid fun. Most of the reviewers take themselves way too seriously and the game doesn't. They simply don't get it and the joke is on them and the forum members who condemn the game second hand or after a few minutes after finishing the opening; it is a slow starter and it wallows in everything "duke".

i finished the game. 7.5/10. Solid entertainment and mindless shooting fun. i look forward to the beginning of a new Duke franchise
^_^

hrm...75/100 isn't a great score, but I'll reserve judgement. Still, won't be buying this until it nears $10.

It isn't a great game; i'd give it a "B" (above average).

In my earlier post, i recommended it as bargain bin. There is good gameplay with no bugs, over-the-top Duke, good corny one-liners, Big Bad Bosses and a lot of action and decent puzzles and it is sufficiently long.

However, if your sensibilities are easily offended by rude and crass (and toilet-type) humor, it is not for you. If you are looking for a story (Aliens are out for revenge on DNF and they are attacking the earth and stealing earth's women), forget it. And if you LOVE and WORSHIP the original game and have sky-high expectations (as the hater reviewers obviously did) then stay far away.

My own review of DNF goes up on my site by Sunday and i will try to have 5760x1080 surround (and S3D) screenshots up by then (then Alice is up right after that)

Just wanted to throw my opinion in here. I played the hell out of Duke 3d and the game was the sole purpose for my current PC gaming addiction. I've looked forward to this game since I was a teenager. Finally the wait is over and I can say that of course it's not all it could have been but then hardly nothing could live up to the hype and length of time we've been waiting. Secondly I've changed so much since then so obviously my tastes have as well.

With all that said I've enjoyed the game a great deal so far. The graphics while not being a Crysis are no where near as bad as many others saying. The two gun limit is a big downer and I admit I hope that gets patched and changed at some point.

Truthfuly I can understand why some might think the game is mediocre but I honestly cannot see in any way how some of these reviewers get off bashing it to the ground like it's the worst thing since Hitler.

For me, the 50 bucks was worth it. For you it might not be, if you found no use for the demo I'd say it wouldn't be. If you had any fun with the demo though I think it's worth it.

This launch is one of the smoothest game launches I've ever seen, too. No huge bugs. No giant list of ATI customers who can't launch the game. No major issues whatsoever.

There are even reviewers who are using DNF's ratings to smoke out their fellow petty and unreasonable reviewers.

If you don't like DNF, you're basically just an unreasonable, impossible-to-please turdbucket. There's no reason not to like it if you liked the originals. It's exactly what I expected it to be.

Funny how quickly you'll pick back up and play DNF again when you're done with Alice.

yeah probably... I feel bad about not playing a game that I bought... i'll force myself to play it somehow... heh... someone come up with a hack to give us more than 2 weapons at a time! I can deal with the stupid EGO system (which is basically just like the MC's armor--which he made fun of)

DEAL with the ego system? Oh brother. Would you rather be running around looking for health powerups? Well I wouldn't. Tough.

Whaaaaaaa! Whaaaaaaa! Somebody call the whaaaaaaambulance!

I'd rather have some incentive not to get shot.

Whaaaaaaa! Whaaaaaaa! Somebody call the whaaaaaaambulance!

Why? Are your feeling hurt that badly? Never mind I'm sure you'll get over it.

So don't get shot. Nobody's forcing you to get shot. If you step out and take a hit to your ego bar, it's your own fault. If you can't find the items to press the freaking interact button with to increase your ego bar, it's your own fault.

The only thing I'd change, maybe, is that the ego bar not refil until you've been bullet-free for longer. Maybe 15 or 20 seconds before it starts to refil and should maybe refil a little slower (and should def stop mid-refil if you get shot).

All I see on the Duke forums and all I see from negative reviews are whiny little kids that aren't complaining about anything legitimate, just complaining because they can't find anything significant to complain about.

My point was when Serious Sam First Encounter FIRST came out (non HD) it was $20. So was the Second Encounter & Serious Sam 2. Then even years later the HD remakes were priced similar when they come out.

So it's not ridiculous to compare prices.

Right, so all FPSs should be priced the same because they're all the same.

No, no, no....

They should be based on a number of factors. If Serious Sam First Encounter was sold for $50. I bet it wouldn't have gotten as good of reviews as it did.

See, and that's bullshit. The price doesn't change the gameplay. That's WHY games aren't worth $50 and $60 and that's WHY people pirate games.

It is the absolute wrong attitude to have.

Tell that to this guy: http://www.blisteredthumbs.net/2011/06/duke-nukem-is-awesome-but-his-game-is-awful/. He has a whole show just about having fun with games. He's a big DN3D fan and was super-hyped about this game. But he didn't have fun playing it.

I haven't played the game, but what is the appeal? Is it a nostalgic throwback? No, it adopts the same regenerating health and 2 weapon limit of current games. Does it have the same quality of game design as the top tier titles that it simultaneously mocks and borrows from? Nope. Is it funny? If you think piss and crap is funny, sure; if not, screw you! Is it good to look at? Not nearly. Is it sexy? If going on pointless fetch quests to get a lap dance does it for you, by all means. Does the multiplayer do anything to stand out? No. Is it a bunch of inexpensive fun, like an arcade title? Nope, it's being sold as a full price game.

With all those points, what reason is there to give it...any kind of praise? What does it do that other games don't do better?

and was super-hyped about this game.

That is why his opinion is tainted. Anyone who is super hyped about any game is going to have an extreme review. They're either going to be pleased and review it as if it's the greatest thing since sliced bread, or they're going to be super let down and give it a hugely negative review.

The fact that he was super-hyped about the game is enough to completely discredit his opinion, in my eyes.
