Duron Unlocking Without Pencil Trick

Does anyone here know a more permanent solution other than the pencil trick, and conductive pen, Im asking because for some reason I have to redo my pencil overlay on the bridges, i used a number two pencil and it works fine for a week or so, but after it seems the lead fades, but when i magnify it, it all seems to be in order. If anyone can help me I would be more than greatful, take care.

I think a rear window defogger kit works well from what I've read here. I think you can pick it up at most hardware stores, not completely sure on that, but should be widely available.

get a conductive pen. very permanent but can still be reversed with potent ethanol (or acetone as some people report).

doing anything that more permanent than the pencil trick is too risky for me...i tried to get a conductive pen but no one seems to know what im talking about at the hardware stores...

If you are realy, really brave, you could consider soldering the bridges together. Note that this does require a very steady hand, and a resonable amount of experience. However, it will result in a truly permanent unlocked CPU if done correctly. This can be done, a friend of mine and I are 2 for 2 on Duron 600s.

On amdzone they reported a company in japan has been selling an adapter that plug in to the cpu socket and the cpu in to it. Dip switchs are used to change the multiplier. The site that you are linked too is in japanese though and this os just what I interpreted from the pics. I think I rather pencil it and be able to adjustf mutipliers in bios. I'm still using a slot a tbird with a gfd, and really like the bios adjustment on my friend rig.

Acutally i was looking at some amd sites, and I saw this cool thing, its like a sticker with 4 copper pins on it, u place it on the cpu and it connects the briges, it was 27 dollars and you get 3 "stickers" If your wondering if the heat from the cpu will melt the sticker it says it some high grade crap that cant melt. I cant seem to find the site now, i know its one one of the sponoser sites that http://www.virtualhideout.net/ has listed....hehe im still looking Ill keep you guys posted. thanks for all the responses.

I saw that also but was turned off by the asking price! I have a "tech" friend with considerable skill who soldered the bridges for me. One caveat though, the solder might make the connection too "strong" making it necessary to OC in the jumper mode on my Asus A7V133! Good Luck!
