Just got back from Compusa and they were clearing out their dvd selection. Everything was $14.88. I was going to grab a dvd player but the employees sucked them all up. I was talking to a store manager and he said they got a memo from the main office to clear out the dvds. Don't know if this is a national thing or just this one store. The store is in Woburn, MA. I picked up a couple of dvds, bugs life and Elizabeth.

Sorry, the titles were $14.88 and I didn't get a price on the players but an employee said that they were very cheap. All of the players were eaten up by the employees in about 5 minutes.

It looks like most normal (non colectors edition) DVD's are 14.88.
You can look up the prices on null=www.compusastores.com
I guess if they changed the prices on the web site the price changes are effective country wide.

I was just at CompUSA, and had the guy there run the SKUs on
a couple of DVD players, which scanned at the same price as
on the shelf, which is to say, nothing to get excited about.

Anyone have any SPECIFICS on a DVD player that is being closed out
at CompUSA? They had a LOT of different models, and the guy
wasn't all that excited at the prospect of running them all
through the system, especially because there was a line forming
behind me!

Thanks,

Kwad

Oh, picked up Criterion "Sid & Nancy", "Bug's Life" special edition
(2 DVD), "Sex & the City 1st Season" (2 DVD), Abyss (2 DVD),
Wallace & Gromit (have it; for a friend), 1941 Collectors' Edition,
Naked Gun, and a couple of others for $14.88 yesterday at CompUSA.

Today in the store not yet doing the sale, there were inventory sheets hanging off of everything everywhere--I'm *guessing* that once that accounting is over, the price cut will be on.

$14.88!!!! Wow...I guess I am a little spoiled from this forum. I still have not paid more than $10.99 for a single dvd (shipped no less). And my dvd collection is now approaching thirty titles. Remember shop smart, shop s-mart.

Milky -

They're called coupons. Every once in a while, companies like Barnes and Noble, Amazon.com and Buy.com issue them to the public.

Used by themselves, you can get some cheap DVDs. Used with a gift certificate offered by various groups on the 'net, you can get them free.

(I've *never* paid more than $4 shipped... but then again, I usually wait until the *good* deals pop up. )

Yeah lol back in 1985 when Back to the Future came out, there probably weren't even Gigabytes in hard drives, so it wasn't even in the public lexicon. No wonder Doc didn't know how to pronounce it.

Thirty titles, Scyber? That's pathetic.

I'm at a hundred and thirty, with no signs of slowing yet ...

And to keep this post on topic, the CompUSA in Kirkland, WA was very picked over. Nothing really worth having.

I picked up 11 titles the other night. Had to see when they were scanned though. Some of them came up regular price. The guy said the top 20 sellers are still normal price but everything else is 14.88. They had good selection here in Columbus, OH. I would have gotten more but that 11 was really too much money for me to spend, any more would have broken me.

:Q I just came back from CompUSA in salem, NH. They still had quite a few good titles left in stock. They were going fast though, so hurry. Pretty good deal in my opinion.

Scyber is right...$14.88 for a DVD? Please. I've got almost 90 in my ever-growing collection, and I've never paid more that $15 - for all NEW titles. I don't buy used either, you've just got to be patient and coupon hunt.

Just got Spinal Tap delivered from Amazon....$12.89 total after coupon.

Oh, and SuperRob...you ain't a Moderator. So pipe down and you'll avoid sounding like a donkey in the future.

Just picked up a dozen DVDs over at the Park Lane store in Dallas.. I got the entire South Park Vol. 4-6 set for only $14.99 (regularly $59.99) b/c the clerk scanned one of the attached DVD's rather then the set itself (it was three single DVDs bound together). The shelves were still jampacked with movies (except for the top releases section, which are all regularly priced right now anyway).

optoman: Major thanks man! I just picked up 13 DVD's. There's still a ton left at the CompUSA in Clearwater, FL.

Some may not consider this a great deal but I do. Tell me how else you're going to be able to go to a retail store and pay less than $15 for DVD's. Sure, you can search, coupon hunt, rebate, etc and maybe equal or beat that but it's not worth the trouble to me. This was instant gratification and cheap. A rare combo. Thanks again for the post!!

Detroit was pretty picked over today. I got "Batman Returns". Mmmm...Catwoman. They had other stuff, but nothing I wanted to spend $15 on.
