DVD drives...Best? Worst?

I'm looking for a DVD drive and I will use it only for movies so I want quality over speed(I allready have a Kenwood 62X) so I am looking for your opinions.

Who makes the best?

Who makes the worst?

Any features I should look for?

Slot load or tray?

I like the Toshiba models. Have never had a problem with them, and I also prefer tray loading over the Panasonic slot loading models.

Pioneer and Toshiba make the best DVDROM drives IMHO. I run a (tray loading) 16X Pioneer (IDE) in my systems.

I'd recommend something other than the Pionner 16X slot loading DVD. It's a good drive preformance wise but so loud I find it distracting while trying to watch a movie. Maybe there is a way to run it at lower than 16X... but I'm not sure.

Is there any physical difference between slot load and tray load besides the loading meathod?

I just got an Aopen 12X and am impressed with it. Also, I hear the Aopen 16X is getting good reviews

I just purchased an Asus 12x and it seems to be very nice. It is very quiet, which was paticularly important to me.

How are the Samsung drives? I'm seriously considering getting one but nobody ever talks about them. I'm not so concerned with speed (I hate the noise really fast drives make anyways), but with reliability.

My Toshiba is an older model. After Jan 2k all the new drives from Toshiba were region locked.
