DVD-/+ help

Hello all. I recently purchased a sony dvd-/+ r/rw recorder and am using dvd x copy. When i make a backup of a dvd it will play (either format) in my apex dvd player but neither format will play in my pioneer dv-250 player. From all the compatibility charts i have looked at it should play both formats but neither worked. Could i be doing something wrong? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Not all compatibility charts are completely accurate. You more then likely aren't doing anything wrong. However, it is probrably recommened you should use the + instead, since that is geared for usage more on DVD players. It could also be the media, what type of disks are you using?

On the dvd-r i used verbatim and with the dvd+r they are memorex. Would brand really make that big of a difference?

brand can make all the difference. My CD-burner is really fussy and hates all the cheap brand crap except Mr Data which work really well and are dirt cheap. I would say DVD-+R drives would be teh same.

Just find a brand of media that burns in your drive and works in your DVD player and stick with it.

That's the first website I visited before and after I got my burner. Perhaps your Pioneer is unable to read copied media. I know my Panasonic DVD player is weird in that it will not read CD-r or CD-RW but it will read DVD-r and DVD+r. Not even a simple cd-r audio cd. Also what dvd writer are you using? When you use DVDXCopy are you using the default burning app or the nero plug-in? Basically check that website they have lists and lists of comments users have posted about dvd players, writer, media, etc... and very helpful message board as well, not to say these ones aren't helpful, they just don't specialize in dvd and cd burning.
