dvd-roms and powerdvd

I just installed a toshiba dvd-rom and downloaded a trial version of powerdvd. The picture is pretty crappy(downright non-viewable). I have an Geforce2 GTS video card and Soundblaster X-gamer card. The sound is fine but the picture sucks. Anybody with any ideas about what's happening?

non viewable?.. hmm try WinDVD as it might give you better results (be sure to fully uninstall powerDVD first) then try it. Try a couple DVDs to make sure its not DVD's fault.
doesnt Geforce come with some kind of DVD player from Nvidia? if it does try that.

I prefer WinDVD as well. Do you have DMA enabled on you DVD?

It may be the common nvidia/ 2d problem (PowerDVD alters the resolution when running)? The latest versions of PowerDVD and WinDVD cohabitate peacefully btw, so no need to uninstall one. Oh, instead of just bitching about picture quality... please try to describe exactly what is wrong with it.
