any decent card (by decent i mean you get good performance & value for money) that does DX8 + OpenGL + DX9. Well DX9 is optional for now. BTW what & howmuch is the diff. between DX8 & DX9 ?

Any card that does DX9 also does DX8.. OpenGL implementation is also a 'standard' on current video cards.
Nvidia cards have the better OpenGL implementation and ATI cards have a better DX implementation (according to many)

Check out this article : http://graphics.tomshardware.c...ic/20031229/index.html where a whole bunch of video cards are tested including a 'value for money' graph

edit: can't do a normal url include...

A TI4200 is a great value for its money and it offers great DX8/OpenGL performance but has no DX 9 support (you said DX9 is optional), it costs around 70-80$ and as low as 50$ used.
But if you need a cheap yet decent DX9 card maybe a 9600 pro for 100$ is your choice.

Thats almost every card for the last year and a half.

I side with Whizzy. The XT800xt beats the 6800ultra in almost every bench. Both cards do both APIs well, its just that the Opengl difference is so glaringly obvious.

That isnt why. Its many different reasons. And nv wins almost as many, if not as many dx9 tests as ati does lately. It more or less depends on the game then the api.

Plus, why isn't really relevant, if it does, it does...
It also depends on what the OP is looking for. In most DX9 pure speed tests, nVidia wins, whereas when AA/AF are enabled at higher resolutions, ATi generally takes the lead. If you are looking at a card anything below $200, you should probably concern yourself more with pure speed benchmarks, since you won't be able to play DX9 games with AA/AF and high resolutions anyway.

you're running blind if you think that one card is better than another card because of just one reason.
