ncred, shame on you. you need to go 4.0 FTW!!!

Should I run my cpu at 1.54v just to get 3.6? ummmm...uhhhhh...it runs cooler than a lot of cpus at lower vcore...no, I should do it b/c 3.4 is just too close to 2.66.

ok, right now I'm pretty well settled on 1.48v, 8x439, 4-4-4-12 1t, memory 1:1, mch 1.52, ichio 1.65, cpu vtt 1.31, and ich 1.05. I am leaving all power-saving processes turned off b/c of my DC addiction.

I just set up a computer for a buddy's wife today. It's an A64 4000+ san diego with a 6200 LE gpu. Using a stock opteron 180 cooler and an el-cheapo fan with crappy airflow, it idles at 39c and loads on seti@home at 50c. My e6750 at 3.5 with an antec 900 and tuniq tower idles at 37c and loads at...51c on both cores. I know that the c2d is a much more efficient cpu, but it's amazing what a good cpu cooler and good case can do for temp management.

Well heres MIT settings :

And heres the advanced settings :

And all the other info should be in here temps, bios revision etc :

As you see i have 1.475V bios which vdroops 1.424V/1.44Vidle 1.41Vload

how far have you overclocked it at the moment???

keep in mind that those are some of the best numbers out there for an e6750. Mine is pretty weak, but there are a lot more like mine than jhl81's.

Hi,

at 420x8 machine starts but orthos give error 1sec after start on small test

all the rest works fine. my settings r the same as jhl81 xcept for cpu vc i have 1.425

when i try to go up on frequency, like 425, pc restarts 3 times then reset all to stock speed
i messed around but only with 420 pc starts

i had a e4300 bf i get this e6750. on that i had 3.2 stable all the way
any ideas? if u event notice yet, i bet u did, OC is not my speciallity...

yeah, well, uh, you are finding out the same thing I did: the e6750 isn't exactly the overclocking monster that it was cracked up to be. sure, some people have great results, but those are far from guaranteed. You are in a worse spot than me b/c you have so-so cooling and an older mobo. You need to crank up your voltage more to get 420x8 stable. I need 1.52 in bios to get 3.512. I don't have my notes in front of me, but I needed around 1.45 iirc to get 420x8 stable.

well, ill keep on trying and post the evolution...

my specs r identical to jhl81, xcept 4 the psu, but i think my Corsair is pretty good (seasonic oem..). mb these cpus come to Portugal a bit "tied" up...

jhl81 has an exceptional chip. don't expect to get the same results that he did. I live in tx and my chip is pretty average.

i had a e4300 bf i get this e6750. on that i had 3.2 stable all the way
any ideas? if u event notice yet, i bet u did, OC is not my speciallity...

On this board what i found was that it had alot of fsb holes here and there, and from my experience with e4300 my max clock speed was 3.22 aswell ....

Hmmm .... well here some tips i can provide

Make sure you have also put enough voltage in your mem as rated and try setting the mem timings to auto. default mem voltage is 1.8 on this board so you'll have to +.3Vdimm in bios.

Looking at your memory its rated for 2.1V 4cas which are much better than my transcend which are rated at 1.8V 5cas .... but you need to put the voltage in to make it work at its best .... ... leave the mem timings till last as this sometimes holds you back

save the bios so u don't have to change everything again and again as this can be frustrating ...

northbridge as i stated earlier in this thread gets pretty hot, and have noticed my system being much more stable with a fan blowing on it, try touching it going thru orthos and see how hot it is ....

with Vcore voltage try 1.45V bios which i found to be a reliable vc setting on my board (meaning it gave stable results with my e2160 and e4300) and also 1.475V

another thing that will hold you back is cooling ... keep an eye on your temps aswell as you increase voltage, eg. going over 70C on load with any voltage will tell you that the oc is running too hot and this might be a factor that holds you back ... coretemp 95.4 will tell you correct temps for the G0 steppings

and also i forgot to mention that i disabled HPET in bios ... which i don't think it matters much

well keep us posted on results i'll try posting again when i've thought of something:roll:

I'm a total OC noob, so when I upgraded my system from an AMD 64 3000 to an E6750 I began my fist adventures in overclocking.

It was trial and error and lots of swearing when I had to BSOD and or reset the bios for like the 100th time.

Now I figured out these settings on my system to run it rock solid:

@ 3.0: vcore: 1.37 (+0.0500) FB: 1.25
@ 3.1: vcore: 1.37 (+0.0500) FB: 1.3
@ 3.2: vcore: 1.42 (+0.100) FB: 1.4 VTT:+2%
@ 3.6: vcore: 1.42 (+0.100) FB: 1.4 VTT:+4%

Believe it or not this is stock air cooling in an Antec Nine Hundred case and I'm idling at 35-38C with heavy load it goes up to 47-50C.

Someone needs to explain me why I could jump from 3.2 to 3.6 WITH NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. I'm not complaining, but this processor didn't went up in the temperature at all.

Ok, I haven't run SIP/ortho yet because I never got to it. But I ran 3Dmark06 numberous times and never got a single crash. I've been playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R and Oblivions for 2 hours and no problems either.

I'm very very happy and it just crazy to see how normal the idle and load temperature is with stock cooling!

I was playing around with my OC today also. See sig. I did a 3.6 OC at 1.475volt. I also upped my mem volts to 2.2. I started there and didn't bother to adjust voltages down. I tried to a 3.8 & 3.9 and got a partial XP load then BSOD. I didn't bother trying anything else.

It sounds like you have a good chip. What is your complete system?

My 3dmark 06 score was 11270 with my vid card OC to (620/1004)

morgales, those numbers are good, but there is world of difference between orthos stable and stalker stable. I can boot with very low voltages compared to what I need to run 24/7 stable. If you needed to up vcore to 1.4 just to get 3.1 stable, then you will probably crash in 5 secs or less on orthos at 1.45 at 3.6. have you verified with cpu-z that your system at 3.6 is actually running at 3.6? You should have a pretty significant temp increase going up 400 mhz like that, esp on stock cooling. That p900 is a great case, however. Do you just have the 3x120 and 1x200 fan, or did you install a couple of extras? also, are you using coretemp .95.4 to get your temps? If not then you could be 15c offset.

ok, I'm pissed that I've been running at only 3.512 for weeks now, so I cranked it up to 3.6 at 1.56 vcore in bios (1.51 vdroop). temps are up 6c on small ffts from 55c to 61c. amazing what a measly .04 volt and 100 mhz will do...

I noticed a very minimal temp increase, 1-2 degrees, going from 2.6 to 3.2

but I did not have to increase the voltage so maybe that is why.

@ 3.2 my cores max out at 61c on orthos

I am going to pick up an untima 90 and see how cool I can get the thing and then see where this chip maxes out

My core temps max out at 49C with orthos blend at 3.2 (stock volts). But I have a tuniq.

it's amazing, I'm 2 X running superpi right now, showing 100% cpu load for last 10 minutes, and core temps are fluctuating btwn 46-49 c right now. When I go back to blend they will immediately return to 60c.

49c at 3.2 stock volts sounds about right on a tuniq. what is an untima 90?
