E8500 OC Question

So I overclocked this E8500 to 4ghz. It is completely stable in everything except torture testing. I can run the computer for days with no problem. Gaming and otherwise. Even in the stress testing, I cannot get this chip to crack 61C and games won't even push it past 51C. I have the voltage set a 1.275 in the BIOS and in CPU-z it never goes about 1.245. Memtest86 has cleared my 1066 memory from any of the blame. I am satisfied with leaving it at 4ghz and not worrying about whether it passes Intel Burn test or OCCT, but it would be nice if I could get it officially stable.

In OCCT it will break after an hour and say CPU1 had an error, and in Intel burn it will pass 1 of 5 tests. Could it be voltage for the north bridge? I tried higher vcore, but that didn't help at all.

I have tried 8x500, and 9x444 both with same results. 9.5x421 doesn't even boot.

Hopefully I haven't hit a wall, I don't plan on going higher, just want a nice even stable 4ghz.

Can you list all your voltages? It will help us see if you're in "ballpark" ranges--of course, voltages very significantly from system to system. Have you read forums and articles on how to overclock?

4 GHz is around the median level where voltage increases for higher speeds start climbing very, very rapidly. If I want to stably break 4GHz on my E8500 I need over 1.5v, which is ridiculous.

Make sure when you overclock, you increase you speed in small increments. If upping the vcore doesn't help at all, trying upping your northbridge a bit. If that doesn't help, up your VTT. If that doesn't help, you can get really dirty and try messing with your GTLref. At that point, though, I'd say your system simply is incapable of handling those speeds.

I will post my voltages when I get home from work. I had the vcore as high as 1.36, kinda worried about going higher than that since Intel says 1.36 is about the top. I have upped the north bridge a bit, but don't really know the limits on those. I have not tried VTT. Most of the voltages I keep at auto.

I have never read up on it, or even tried it, but would you guys trust EasyTune 6 to overclock? I am just think that maybe it has the ability to set the voltages it needs to acquire a more stable OC. Does the Voltage limit have anything to do with the heat? For instance if I was able to keep the temps below 60, would it hurt to hit 1.5?
