Interesting. Strange that sailing ship carving as wouldn't this predate European contact? Chinese maybe? Or from the early Polynesian settlers of the island... Or the carving was done later.

First thing that came to my mind. The most interesting thing about those heads is that it was an economic collapse. Wiped out all the resources on the island to see who could build the biggest stupid head.

There was a program on discovery channel, or the learning channel awhile back talking about how pollen from the islands close to Australia has been found in south America.

Then there is the sweet potato debate. Some scientist think the sweet potato was introduced in south america before the europeans brought it over.

I think it's been known for ages that they have bodies, there's some nearly completed ones in a quarry that haven't been set up.

Just because it hasn't been on ATOT doesn't mean that no one else knew.
