EASY PSU QUESTION..

I want to use another psu to run all my fans. Now does the PSU itself generate alot of the heat thats blowing out of the back of the computer or is it hot air from the case itself? The new PSU will be outside of the case and i was just wonderin if i needed the fan inside the PSU cuz i took it out and used it as a case fan.

You need a fan inside that PS in order to blow the air generated outta there. The problem with heat from PS is that it increases the ambient temp inside the system itself if you keep your computer closed. The fans inside your system cool the cpu, HDD, etc.. by using the air inside the system. I've never seen systems with the PS outside of the case, but I keep my case open on one side so I don't have to worry AS much about ambient temps, and this saves me about 4-5 deg C.. the only issue is that it gets really dusty here. Here's what I'm running:

Asus A7v133
Axia 1ghz @ 1.4
all with a 300w antec PS.

It's a little of both. The amount of heat the PSU generates depends on the load it's under. If it was me, I'd put the fan back in the PSU.

I look at it this way. My system is on 24/7. If the PSU that runs the fans dies because it overheated, then my system is next. Not a good trade off for the price of a fan IMO.
