Easy Question

I have a Radeon 3870 w/ 512mb ram. It's a VisionTek.

I want to move to a quieter video card that exceeds the performance of this card (which I admit is not that hard). I'd like to keep the price as low as possible.

Yeah, that won't be hard to do.

An HD 5750 or GTS 450 will be about (over) twice as fast. They're around $100, and there are probably quiet versions. I'd use this as a reference point. You can spend more to get something even more faster, or you can spend less and get something that still beats the 3870, but not by that much.

I have a GTS450 and it is inaudible most of time, and barely audible under load. The 5750 is a great card as well, but I couldn't tell you about its noise levels. I would guess its very quiet as well. Check the Anand GTS 450 review as I believe they compare both of them on performance/power/noise.

Can't go wrong with either one.

Depending on your resolution and performance goals, a GTX460 768 might be a great option. They are supposed to be very quiet and would be a huge upgrade. Right now they are pretty cheap as well. Depending on what you are willing to spend that might be your best all around option.
