Ebay Problem

Sold a 6800 256mb PCI-E video card on E-bay. The card has been in my Dell 8400 since April and has worked fine. I posted it on the 4th of December. It sold ~40 minutes later. I shipped it Fedex on the 5th and he got it on the 6th. On the 12th he left me positive feedback. Now on the 21st he is trying to tell me the card is dead. I know it was working when it left my hands. He claims to have tried it in SLI and on 2 different motherboards.

He paid via paypal and I've already long transferred the money out.

I'm worried he either shocked/fried the card or had another bad one and he's trying to pass it off on me. He left me good feedback...why would he do that without trying the card? I find it hard to believe that he just sat on it for two weeks. Can he do anything to me regarding paypal? Should I close my PP account? He feels like I scammed him and I feel like he is trying to scam me...

yea, for him to have left positive feedback implies that he tested it and was satisfied. i say forget him and don't worry.

he left feedback, the deal is complete. your money has been transfered out and just make sure you dont have any balance in your paypal account. he does not have a leg to stand on.

send him an email telling him that you are very sorry he is experiencing problems with the card. include a link to the RMA page to the card manufacturer.

tell him if he has a dell under warranty, then he's covered

Not your problem. As long as he received it in the condition you described, then your good. What happens after that is his problem.

I had a guy claim that the dvd burner I sold him was defective. I told him that it was insured by UPS and that he would have to file it with them. UPS tested it for over a month and sent it back to me and refused to reimburse the guy. I put it in my machine and it worked fine. Turns out that the idiot had the IDE cable backwards.

Yep, transaction is completed - guy will have to go via the manufacturer if there is a problem

Even if he didnt leave feedback he had more than enough time to test and easily kill it.

I agree with everyone here....your covered...he left positive feedback...and it's been a few weeks. There's no telling what he did to the card....not your issue anymore....and Ebay should back you on this one.

Always put somethin in auctions about the item being sold as is but describe how you use it and that it works fine.

Sound ok? This guy lives nearby so I really don't want to piss him off and have him show up on my doorstep. I've also noticed his feedback is now private. I don't think it was set like that before.

Why would Dell give him an RMA? How do you know he owns a Dell and if he doesn't, I don't think your warranty transfers over to him.

Most likely he will have to get an RMA from the original manufacturer.

edit: BTW, you shouldn't have to refund him anything...enoguh time has passed where it is not your concern anymore.
