They may have started a few days early, but it didn't take them long to get back to last possible date - at least for me. 25 is my magic number and Where's my stimulus payment? (linked above) says it will be deposited on May 9 - the last possible date that's supposed to be for everyone with numbers 21-75.

WTF.. 2 weeks after the check was supposed to be issued. Sigh. Since we used turbotax and had direct deposit, they still dont count that as direct deposit and are cutting us a paper check. What a joke.

I used Turbotax as well. Maybe thats why i havent gotten mine yet.

what is the deal with turbotax and direct deposit? my ss ends in 14, so at this point i'm assuming i have no news on the irs site because they plan on sending me a check on may 23, but why? i did turbotax and direct deposit, how is that different?

Apparently, if you used ANY sort of 'tax preparer', be it a CPA, H&R Block OR TAXCUT, you will be mailed a check. Suckage.

Here is a direct quote from IRS website (this information was removed from their website early last week):
"Q. I chose direct debit to pay my tax bill. Will my Stimulus Payment be direct deposited to the same account?

A. No, the account information used for an incoming Direct Debit payment to the IRS cannot be used as the account information for the Direct Deposit of the stimulus payment. People who choose Direct Debit to pay a balance due will receive their stimulus payments by paper check through the mail. [Updated 3/3/08]

Q. I plan to choose direct debit to pay my tax bill. I know my economic Stimulus Payment will not automatically be direct deposited based upon the Direct Debit information I've provided to pay my tax bill, but can I also enter Direct Deposit information to receive my Stimulus Payment by Direct Deposit?

A. Some tax preparation software will allow this, some will not. You will have to make this determination based on your own review of the tax preparation software you use. If you PAID the IRS from your bank account, that is a direct debit. (yes, you still had to put in your banking information to perform that function). A direct deposit means they are putting your refund directly into your account. You said you didn't get a refund.

Mine hit today. An odd number: $513. I filed Head of Household. I have a son who is 13, my AGI was less than 75k. Why is it 513? I thought it would be more with my qualifying son. I chose direct deposit when I filed. would the IRS send one direct deposit for me and my son? Or could this just be my stimulus refund and my sons will come at a later date? Do they go by his SSN or do they lump both of us together? The IRS website has no scenario for me. Was hoping to get around 900 or so so I can get a 32"HDTV for me and the boy to game on.

the $513 is likely it.... people don't seem to realize that it's a calculated amount - $600 MAX

For the TurboTax thing read some of the replies here. It seems to have something to do with Santa Barbara Bank and Trust and having the refund payments go through them. If your refund went through that bank then your stimulus payment will come by check because the routing #account # were changed to Santa Barbara #s for the original refund.

So, Turbotax & the IRS website both told me that I would be receiving a stimulus check yet when I dump my info into the "when is my $$$ coming" calculator, there's no record yet.

My SSN ends in 13...do I have to wait until the "no later than" mailing date to check on that?

I based my post on what the IRS hotline rep told me. Since I used Turbotax, even though i chose direct deposit (through turbotax), the irs will still cut paper checks to those people who did that.

According to the schedule, your check is supposed to be mailed nlt May 23. The "Where's My Stimulus Payment" page says they won't have info for you until about a week before that date.

Actually the amount is $513.20..........................20 freaking sense? WTF? This is a wierd number. I hope it has to do with my sons SSN and I will be getting more. Gonna call the IRS when I have a couple of hours to spare being on hold.
