ECS KN1 Extreme - SiS 180 Question

I've tried connecting 1 Sony DVD-ROM & 1 NEC3250 DVD+-RW to the SiS180 PATA controller on the ECS KN1 mobo and it does not work.
One of 2 things happen.
The SiS BIOS shows both drives as the NEC or or recognises one and then hangs.
I was wondering if anyone has attached 2 ATAPI devices to the 180 controller or is the controller for RAID only.
I've ended up connecting both these drives to the Secondary channel of the nVidia controller, but would rather "save" those for nVRaid.

I have a CDROM and a DVDRW (both IDE) on the same cable. I don't think I am using the SIS180. But, I installed the driver for it.

I have emailed (support@ecsusa.com) and called ECS about the problem below:

I have an ECS KN1 Extreme and I downloaded the RealTek Codec Sound on board driver A3.68 (5770) from your web site.

I have Logitech Z560 4.1 Computer Speakers (has 4 speakers and a subwoofer). It has a green connector and a black connector for sound.

I plugged in the green connector into the green connector on the motherboard and the black connector into the blue connector on the motherboard. In the AC97 Audio Configuration program, I set the number of speakers to 4 and change the blue connector from line in to Rear Speaker Out.

I can hear sound from the 2 rear speakers fine, but I do not hear any sound from my 2 front speakers nor my subwoofer.

Any ideas?

Use the nVidia Audio Drivers and nVidia Audio Utility from the 6.53 Drivers you downloaded. They give you the option to configure the Front and Rear speakers.

Sorry to hijack your thread. Ok I uninstalled the AC97 Audio drivers and installed the NVIDIA Audio Drivers and ran NvMixer Utility. I am able to get sound from my rear 2 speakers (blue connector) but still not able to get sound from my subwoofer or my 2 front speakers (green connector).

I am thinking I have a defective MB for the sound cuz the blue audio connector works and the green audio connector doesn't work.

I think the audio channels depend on what you are playing. Try watching a DVD and confirm if all audio channels work.
